The Bible says “Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery” (Luke 16:18) and “both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death.” (Leviticus 20:10). Do you (and your second wife) take that as a literal religious commandment too?

This is really a misinterpretation of scripture. The Book of Leviticus does indeed say these words, but the Word of God evolves over time. The Levitical laws were written right after 400 years of slavery in Egypt and they were harsh laws for a people who spent those 400 years worshiping false idols. Jesus creates a new covenant with Christians. Of course adultery is still a sin and definitely needs repentance, but applying Levitical laws of death to the teachings of Christ are improper. Please don’t misuse Christ’s Word to make a political point.
