#fossilfriday UNIPAMPA 317, the holotype of Rastodon procurvidens, a Guadalupian emydopoid dicynodont recovered from an outcrop of the Rio do Rasto Formation in São Gabriel, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Skull length: 8.6 cm; estimated body mass: around 2 Kg.

The study reveals the existence of four valid species of Mourasuchus and emphasizes the importance of taxonomic work on fossil crocodylomorph taxa. Further efforts are necessary to comprehend the exceptionally rich and diverse Cenozoic crocodylomorph fauna in South America.🐊⛏️

New microCT data on enigmatic Scleromochlus taylori reveal its anatomy & early diverging position within Pterosauromorpha & add important information on pterosaur origins, the 1st group of vertebrates to evolve powered flight. @davfof et al anatomypubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ar… #FossilFriday

I'm beyond thrilled to officially lauch the Macroevolution and Paleobiology lab! Based at the Zoology department of the University of São Paulo, our lab will focus on systematics and macroevolution of vertebrates. This AMAZING logo was made by the also amazing @MirantaKouvari 🤩

Congrats @BronzatiMario, and the co-authors! An excellent paper featuring PaleoLab contributions, describing the braincase of the lagerpetid Dromomeron gregorii (Archosauria: Avemetatarsalia) from the Late Triassic of USA! Celebrating his first of many as a new dad! 👶❤️⛏️
