I also asked about AI art being used in expedition 33. i didn’t include it in the story because it wasn’t new info and didn’t fit with the piece. but Broche confirmed someone did use an AI generated placeholder texture that they forgot to right click on and remove.

@Traumvita @GenePark @geoffkeighley AI & in-engine assets used as a "tool" in early development, w/ intent to replace it w/ actual art made by people. It was. One misc. texture swap gets missed so discredit the final product, the artists and all their work? The final product in your hands wasnt AI generated.

@freebird9001 @GenePark You do yourself a disservice. They also used in-engine assets that were later replaced with handmade assets. The tools used in early development isn't indicative to the final product which is all people created art and assets. No Artists were harmed in the making of this game.

@sunshine12tan @GenePark So you discredit all the real art and assets created by artists because they forgot to swap out a single early stage temp thing? It could have been royalty free art online, or an in-engine asset they forgot to update. But it's AI so rake em over the coals! ouch.

@YawnSong @GenePark They also used in-engine unreal assets they didn't create themselves in early development. Doesn't mean the final product was made with unreal assets. Those assets were all replaced with art made by artists and i'm not going to discredit their work because of rough drafts & WIPS.

@BrendonShih @GenePark Great idea, but it wont make happy the people who dont want them using it at all even as a tool to Speed up early development, having something that looks semi decent to show to publishers, etc. No artists were harmed in the making of this game is what matters to me.
