The Committee VOTED to exclude psychiatrists from the process. They didn't want to hear why mental state might matter and what a profound change this is for society's approach to suicide

Kit Malthouse continues to argue that dying individuals are already receiving support on the NHS and 'expensive treatments' and we shouldn't pretend that the status quo is cost free. "Not only is it costly in monetary terms...costly in terms of humanity".
