I’ve learned a lot of things as a principal… but the big one is this: Teachers are the most important resource in the school. They need to be supported, encouraged, and celebrated. They drive the school.

We are preparing students to be successful… but we also need to prepare them to fail. Life is not easy. We need to teach students how to overcome adversity.

I’m gonna drop a grenade here! You know what’s dystopian? An education system that has school staff doing a million and one things to mitigate against the effects of poverty, and then for a few extra quid there are teachers tutoring kids to get straight As in the leafy suburbs.
