I spoke to the graduating class at Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan today about the importance of teamwork, relationships and loyalty as they start their careers and make their way in the world.
These aren’t just important lessons for graduates - it’s also important for our relationship with the United States as we continue fighting for tariff-free trade between our two great countries, so we can protect workers and jobs on both sides of the border.

Since 2018, Ontario’s trade with non-U.S. partners has increased by 75 per cent, and is up nearly 28 per cent last year alone. Today, I hosted a roundtable with representatives from some of Ontario’s largest and fastest-growing international trading partners to discuss how we can build on this success.

I was honoured to deliver the commencement address for the 2026 graduating class at Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan, and to receive an honourary Doctorate of Humane Letters.
I spoke about the importance of maintaining strong partnerships and relationships, both as students moving into the next phase of their lives and as citizens of two great countries that are stronger when we work together.
