We continue with presentations on Late effects in paediatric neuro-oncology. Survivors who have been treated with CNS irradiation therapy need to receive regular follow-up care to monitor neurocognitive and endocrine late effects and guidance in coping with these issues.
Brilliant presentation by @AEcaterina sharing the heartfelt reality of cancer survivors’ battle with anxiety and reliving past trauma during the pandemic, reflecting the thoughts of many young people in @CancerEurope Slides will be published on @PanCareNetwork website.
The afternoon starts with presentations on survivorship and transitions. Among others, 2 survivors and a nurse tell their experiences with transition. It is very nice to hear all these stories from different perspectives in 1 session and to learn from each other. #PanCareOnline
The second session of the day is about a very topical issue: We hear how survivors have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and what the consequences are for long term follow up care and the daily lives of survivors. #PanCareOnline
Collaboration and knowledge transfer are indispensable to achieve optimal follow-up care for every European childhood cancer survivor. #ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth#morethancure
Huge disparity in survival rates and significant long-term side-effects in many survivors across Europe are due to the different treatment approaches, the organisation of care and availability of resources.

Yes, you´ve read it right! Childhood cancer is the cause of 6000 children and young people in Europe dying every year. Many of those who survive suffer long-term side effects due to their treatments.
