Let me introduce you to another legend most don't know. I certainly didn't until yesterday. Please let me know if you have ever heard of this talented artist. Born Claude Russell Bridges in 1942 in Lawton, Oklahoma, he took the stage name “Leon” from a fake ID he used to get into clubs as an underage musician. He was a pianist, songwriter, and singer, his life and contributions could fill a book and still only scratch the surface. Truly, this man is another “wow.” Before his solo fame, he played piano and keyboard behind legends and helped shape their hit songs, Frank Sinatra, Elton John, Dr. Hook, George Harrison, The Carpenters, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, Willie Nelson, Barbra Streisand, Joe Cocker, Bob Dylan, and countless more. Yes, he was part of the Wrecking Crew. He earned six Gold Records, two Grammy Awards, and was inducted into both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Credited on 408 albums and over 430 songs, plus countless others uncredited, his gravelly voice and signature top hats left a lasting imprint on music for generations.
