Marty Makary was the worst FDA commissioner in 25 years. Full stop. I have covered the FDA for that long, and I don’t say this lightly. He was, largely, an agent of chaos because he didn't understand the agency he was trying to lead. My story explaining is in the next post.

@PantaRhai I agree acoramidis is a superior drug but very often that choice won’t exist. Taf is a lot better than nothing. As a practicing doc I can tell you access is a real problem.

Just to piss off everyone: is tafamadis IP settlement something to celebrate? It delays generic entry for 2.5 years. Good for PFE and BBIO but not really good for patients.

@Biohazard3737 Not crazy. Many of the banks have asset management arms that follow the analysts recs and are forced to buy/sell accordingly

A year ago, Dr. Prasad came to the FDA to implement 4 major long-lasting reforms: 2-to-1 pivotal trial requirement, national priority reviews, a risk-stratified covid vaccine framework, & the new plausible mechanism framework for ultra rare diseases which we launched last week. Also, under his leadership, his center hit a record number of approvals in Dec. He got a tremendous amount accomplished within his one-year sabbatical from UCSF and will be returning back to his academic home later next month. We will name a successor before his departure. I want to thank him for his service and personal sacrifice to take time away from his family.

@Biohazard3737 Both can be true. But in our sector for sure when you get around that 3bn mark your returns will automatically begin to take a hit. No way around it
