The question is: if Atiku steps down for Obi, will Tinubu also step down for him? A lot of Peter Obi’s supporters are demanding that Atiku should step down for their preferred candidate, not realizing that Tinubu is a stronger opponent. Now that they have moved from ADC to NDC, they still want Atiku not only to step down from the race but also to back an Obi/Kwankwaso ticket. Obi will come a distant third in the election, just as in 2023, when Atiku came second. No one can win without the support of others. It is not fair to ask Atiku to step down when Obi will instead serve as his running mate; that way, both would be on the ballot and will have a better chance of winning.
