I’ve spoken to 100s of web3 gaming project founders. Here’s what I learned. 1. The most confident founders are web3 native and from unrelated industries. 2. Web2 founding teams don’t look for opportunities in blockchain tech, they look for funding. 3. Game quality is the first thing that comes out of everyone’s mouth but the last thing that gets money. 4. The web3 dance: no one cares about KOLs bringing players or whales. It’s a VC/ launchpad/CEX facing investment strategy. 5. Every single company account is botted or forced engagement through questing/incentive systems. 6. X follower count only matters to people who don’t know anything about game development. 7. The people in point 6 hold all the money and power in this echo chamber. 8. Most founders are delaying TGE because they can’t afford it. 9. Getting to TGE is the focus of the majority of backers. 10. Player numbers don’t matter to VCs, only on chain interactions.

It’s sad what happened with Rumble Kong League. They launched NFTs for 4 years and said big names like Curry were involved. Then they launched $FAME with just 12 ETH of liquidity. The price crashed. They told the community they were “starting from zero.” Stopped paying mods 2 months ago. Now the team abandoned the project And it looks like they sold the project to a company from Brazil. Ronin community and holders deserved better.
