The memo outlined 7 countries whose governments needed to be toppled: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran. The entire region is now in chaos precisely because Israel made the calculation that if the region is in chaos Israel will be able to do whatever it wants and the Gaza genocide tragically shows their calculus to be right so far. That’s why the Iran War won’t end with a negotiated settlement any time soon. The Israeli’s won’t accept a deal until Iran is plunged into total chaos. So far the Iranian regime has actually been strengthened as they now control the Strait of Hormuz and therefore the global energy markets. Israel can’t tolerate the war ending with Iran gaining even more leverage. So Trump either bullies Israel into submission by threatening to withhold aid and implement trade sanctions or this war will last in some form for many more months if not years.
