@petergyang I only tried Hermes but it took weeks to setup.
The local models just ain't powerful enough to do a simple task.
It can't even remember the previous conversation.
Qwen3. 5 9b and qwen 2.5 14b
English

Is it me or using local models with limited 12GB VRAM can't even work for Hermes agents @NousResearch ?
Qwen 2.5:14b have dementia trying to recall its previous conversation while just trying to scrap the web for latest news.
English

@sudoingX I have trouble running agentic tasks on a 9b with 12gb VRAM
English

I paid for every ai model so you don't have to
Here are my results:
New @MiniMax_AI sucks
New @Kimi_Moonshot is better but still sucks
New @Alibaba_Qwen 3.6 is the best local model
New @OpenAI Chatgpt 5.5 is amazing (huge upgrade)
New @claudeai Opus 4.7 is amazing but burns tokens
Chatgpt 5.5 is the best bang for your buck on Hermes or Openclaw the rest are a waste of time & money
Also Codex desktop app is as good or better than Claude desktop now
English

i came to the conclusion that the best use cases for OpenClaw & Hermes were the simple daily tasks...
- launching an auto-research workflow on the side
- growing and maintaining an obsidian knowledge base
- implementing very simple features in software and updating docs
anything that don't require much attention, where there isn't much thinking involved... basically anything you'd trust a cheap freelance to do

The Local LLM cheat sheet for your 16GB RAM device
I pulled together a lineup of small models that can run comfortably on a Mac Mini or personal laptop while still leaving room for context without melting your machine.
Models for Daily Use
Qwen3.5 9B / GGUF / Q4_K_M
Daily driver. General chat, drafting, research, translation. If you're keeping only one, keep this.
DeepSeek-R1 Distill Qwen 7B / GGUF / Q4_K_M
Reasoning engine. Math, logic, step-by-step problems. Slower, but worth it when you need actual thinking.
Models for Specialty Work
Qwen2.5 Coder 7B / GGUF / Q4_K_M
Code specialist. Completions, refactors, debugging, repo Q&A. Better than a generalist when the task is code.
Llama 3.1 8B / GGUF / Q4_K_M
Long context worker. RAG, doc chat, codebase Q and A. The output isn't top tier, but the context is strong for its size.
Phi-4 Mini Reasoning / GGUF / Q4_K_M
Compact thinker. Logic, structured answers, math, and short coding bursts. Smaller context is the catch.
Models for Efficiency
Gemma 4 E4B / GGUF / Q4_K_M
Light all-rounder. Writing, chat, light agents, structured output.
Phi-3.5 Mini / GGUF / Q5_K_M
Pocket sidekick. Summaries, extraction, background doc chat. Easy to pair with a bigger model.
Qwen3.5 2B / GGUF / Q4_K_M
Useful for summaries, tagging, rewrites, and lightweight sidekick work.
Micro Models
Qwen3.5 0.8B / GGUF / Q5_K_M
Classification, keyword routing, binary decisions, triage.
Gemma 4 E2B-it / GGUF / Q4_K_M
Lightweight chat, quick Q and A, summaries, tiny agents.
My personal choice for a single model is Qwen3.5 9B
For two models use Qwen3.5 9B + Qwen2.5 Coder 7B for code, or Qwen3.5 9B + Phi-3.5 Mini for support tasks.
Let me know in the comments your experience with these models, or any I have left out.

spent 20+ days on something i wanted all of you to have on hermes agent. it works. but it doesn't fly yet. and i want it to fly. while building, my reach tanked. my timeline went dark. the thing keeping this going is content and i chose to build instead of post. that's the trade i made.
now i think some of you goats could help me get this across the finish line and make it accessible to everyone. i need to focus on timeline so nikita keeps paying bucks and the chain keeps going.
more soon.

English

@propfirmsplaza The repeating theme of these posts is getting boring.
English

@sudoingX I'll be keen to know which of these coins are really building stuff.
English

yo crypto twitter, if i had $1k to park in a coin building real stuff right now, what would it be? real fundamentals only, no memecoin chaos. if nous research had a token i'd be all in but they don't yet. been away from trading for a while, looking for the actually building plays. asking for a friend (the friend is me)
English

@E8Bruin If I have more than a year of record proving how I managed risk, would you give away a funded account?
English

Giveaways - Yes or no?
A lot of people think giveaways are dead. They say it's just bots and scammers winning these days 🤖
I strongly disagree ⛔️
We aren't going to let bad actors ruin the opportunity for real traders. I still believe that a funded account can be a life-changing catalyst for someone willing to work for it.
To prove it, I am giving away a $25K E8 Signature Account to 5 different traders next week 😎
I want to hear from you in the replies:
Why do you deserve one of these accounts?
How would getting funded impact your journey?
Let's change some lives 📈

Dads with young kids
Is it normal to just feel tired and burnt out all the time?
It’s like you don’t even really get the weekend to recover because it’s all just kid stuff the moment you wake up
Arguably the only personal time you have is when they nap (and you’re already dead tired by that time) or the hour after they go to bed but before you pass out
Just trying to figure out if I’m doing something wrong
