@DeScoite @adrmurphy @REVAInc Not entirely sure. The current aircraft has a full crew compliment but we are trying to get a second plane for the Shannon base.

Great training last week down in Cork, gaining our PHTLS qualifications. @adrmurphy took the time to teach us the pre-hospital emergency lifesaving procedures that we may encounter doing global repatriations. #Flightparamedic #airambulance #phtls @REVAInc

@Batch596 If it's not an emergency, then why should people go to the emergency department?

Members of the Great British Public. If you rang 999 yesterday and did not get an ambulance. This is likely because your condition WAS NOT AN EMERGENCY. This should be the default setting. If you can make your own way to ED please do so.

@ScottHowie85 @rosesusitation Thanks Scott, hi Rose. My role is pretty awesome. I work as part of a critical care flight crew that transports patients of all ages and conditions to destinations of better care via air repatriation. Happy to help you if you'd like.

@NQParaKatie @TheBlackEcho @BrokeKneeADHD That sucks! But my point was being bumped for a student midwife, who spends almost all placements there. :/ Student paras often overlooked whilst being the only registered HCPs likely to be at a pre hospital emergency.

@ParamedMike @TheBlackEcho @BrokeKneeADHD To add on to this, I had 3 shifts in a maternity unit as a student and didn’t see a single delivery, sometimes there just isn’t births and that’s just bad luck, but we can’t assume that students will get the exposure they need in hospital placements either

I’ve been thinking about all the student paramedics who are sitting outside hospital for hours on end. Are they going to be able to complete their Practice Assessment Documents or practice their vital skills well enough to become competent paramedics? How can we support them?

@ParamedMike @BrokeKneeADHD Yeah I totally get what your saying it’s just depending on what part of your training your at being placed with a specialism will also limit your exposure too. Particularly as in our trust even cars are only manned by SP’s

@J__B13 @BrokeKneeADHD Between those teams and the para's running on cars, there are more opportunities for student exposure. Because the current alternative is the issue raised above. Sim training is suitable for skills used "rarely" but even getting to experience "scene management" is now rare.

@ParamedMike @BrokeKneeADHD Sadly it’s not realistic though as there are only one (maybe two) HART & HEMS teams in each trust in comparisons to the hundreds of students, they also don’t always have a high turnover of jobs. It also depends on where you are in your training

@NJL_Blancq @BrokeKneeADHD Thats not terrible to be fair. Theres some students starting shift and taking over a patient already outside ED so the night crew can get home. So, multiple shifts with no actual calls.

@ScottHowie85 Find it has fantastic results when trying to help patients with dementia to become comfortable and familiar with the change of surroundings. Sometimes anyways.

I always like to put music on in the back of the Ambulance, particularly with long waits & let the patient request who we listen to as i find it helps them pass the time & gives them something to distract them. Today I regret that choice, they chose abba! My worse nightmare

@rhiannonlough Correct. Shambles of an "International" airport. Belfast City is elite in comparison.

Coming up to my 10th year working in pre-hospital care. Have had an absolutely awesome range of roles, training, and experiences. But let me be clear - if you ask me how to use a sling, I will fold like a lawn chair! #Ambulance #MedTwitter
