@MrsWoessner @brownjp_pwcs We did a pet parade and the kids loved it! Some kids even kept their cameras on the entire time! I also try to incorporate activities where the kids show me something from their house or room as a way to get cameras on!

@brownjp_pwcs I have a few kids who do! Honestly, it’s finding the ooonnnneeee kid who is willing and a few others follow. Also, I’ve had kids turn on cameras just to show pets. You could start that way— super low risk.

PSA. Your students saying “ain’t”, “finna”, etc. are cultural. Instead of “correcting” them, talk to them about code switching and how amazingly SMART they are for being able to codeswitch between the two. Valuing your students’ identities means valuing the way they speak.
