ParliREACH stand in support and solidarity with @DawnButlerBrent as she continues to speak out against discrimination in the UK. We stand firmly against racism in all of its forms and continue to support Black women MPs against all abuse.

Very important thread on the impact of #COVID19 on the racial wealth gap. Black, Asian, minority and ethnic groups are disproportionately likely to be impacted both financially and in high death rates.
The Telegraph@Telegraph

How coronavirus is worsening Britain’s racial wealth gap *a thread* Since coronavirus hit Britain, BAME people have been more likely than most to lose their income, fall behind on bills or have to apply for Universal Credit. telegraph.co.uk/money/consumer…

Jo Cox was murdered 4 years ago whilst she was about to start her constituency surgery. She died in public service. In the Chamber today, we were reminded of the wisdom in her message; the responsibility of all of us to spread compassion and understanding over bigotry and hate.

33 years ago today, a historic General Election took place in which Diane Abbott, Paul Boateng and Bernie Grant were elected the UK's first black MPs, representing the constituencies of Hackney North and Stoke Newington, Brent South, and Tottenham. @HackneyAbbott @BGArtsCentre

On this day in 1987, after years of racist media vilification Bernie Grant was elected to Parliament. He’d become - and remained - a lightening rod for the pent up anger of black & brown people in our inner cities - and across the diaspora.

For those unable to protest, there are other ways to support the #blacklivesmatter movement. ✊🏿Care for the black community. Pause, reflect, act. ✊🏽Educate yourself. Unlearn what you’ve been taught. Understand. ✊🏼Connect with black organisations, donate, support, engage.

@themsley Thank you for your support Tom! Unfortunately we do not as we are work place equality network to support BAME staff who work at Parliament. However, we have in the past supported @UKParlEducation in talking to black and other minority student visitors to parliament.
