@Philanthropy @IndSector Yep: 📊 High-risk agencies: NIH, CDC, NSF (health and science) EPA, FDA, DOE (regulatory) GSA, 18F, OMB (civilian IT) Plus: OMB has directed agencies to treat it as an “opportunity” for permanent workforce reductions. Layoffs, not just unpaid leave.

A government shutdown is likely to add stress to nonprofits that have been grappling with federal cuts since the start of the year, advocacy groups warned. "We hope that cooler heads will prevail," Ben Kershaw of @IndSector said. However, the ordeal of waiting to see if the government will shut down is adding to the stress that many nonprofits were already feeling after months of turmoil. "No matter what happens, it is a massive waste of resources for the nonprofit sector." The Chronicle's @StepBeasley reports: phlnthrp.com/3Kq9WCZ

What are you building while others wait? Drop it below—I'm looking for people executing the pattern, not just talking about it.

This applies beyond government: Writers testing content while markets are quiet. Builders shipping products during uncertainty. Creators positioning while competitors doom-scroll. Movement during chaos = asymmetric advantage.

Government shutdown 2025: Most see a crisis to survive. Strategic operators see a positioning window. Here's why disruption IS the opportunity: 🧵

@johoromero @jasonfried This has happened to me before as well, and it was food. So to the garbage it went, thankfully, with a refund.

@jasonfried They will sometimes leave the tag without an actual attempt especially if they are behind schedule.

Today I missed a FedEx delivery that required a signature. I stepped out for a few and while I wasn't around, the delivery attempt was made. It's frustrating to wait for something, miss it within a small window, and then come back to the door tag saying they'll try again tomorrow. It made me wonder if FedEx has ever piloted a "One more try" model where the driver does one more pass on their way back to all the houses that required signatures but weren't around on the first attempt. Obviously that would take more time. But I wonder if, taken everything into account, it might save money, frustration, and hassle in the end. More people getting their packages the day as promised (and paid for), and fewer re-shuffling of packages at the depot at the end of the day for re-delivery tomorrow. Anyone know?

@HarryStebbings I worked remote years before 2020, so.... yeah, no thanks. Some of us didn't work "with" the people in our old office space, like at all. My job is 100% on my PC and on conference calls with teams spread across the US. Going into the office wouldn't change that one bit.

Of the public company CEOs I speak to today: 90% of them want to make it 5 days per week back in office. All of them fear the response.

@arvidkahl currently I'm listening to 3 podcast types: 1. serial episodes that track events over time (slow burn, serial, dissect, etc. ) 2. deeeeep dives across topics I find fascinating (20k Hertz, The Indicator, Acquired, etc. ) 3. dulcet tones of true crime to sleep (Dateline, TSK)

What makes you listen to (or NOT listen to) a podcast? Is there a defining intangible trait the show has? Or is it the theme? Similarity? Novelty? What’s the ”it” it has to have?

Do you own a printer? I haven't had one in YEARS, which normally isn't a problem Most things can be handled digitally But sometimes I'm required to print something (tickets, return labels, etc.), which then becomes a HUGE headache Am I the anomaly here? Do you have a printer?

Ok this is insanely cool, I FINALLY built the AI scraper I put on hold for months. Just enter the url and fields you want, and get a csv output. Demo is me scraping jobs from Linkedin. I need some beta testers, who wants to try it?
