@shaliniseth @karthikavk I don’t think that’s true. Indian writers have their own brand of English because they think in English and one or more Indian languages, and it’s unique and it does capture their worlds and their voices.

@karthikavk Read Indian writers in Hindi - translated from Bangla/Malayalam/Punjabi
I find that Indian writing does well in languages of the country
Loved some Indian books in English - Vikram Seth comes to mind. Not that many. By and large, English doesn't capture our worlds.

As someone who has been attending Jashn e Rekhta since its first edition, I’ve always admired how it set the gold standard for celebrating Urdu — its language, literature, culture, and heritage. However, this year felt noticeably different.

Can You Spot Two World Champions?
The first time I noticed Gukesh was here, the quieter one, always absorbing the class with remarkable focus. And then there was Pragg, by far the most restless kid, bursting with energy, who couldn't stop blurting out the answers. I remember Rakshita Ravi being there too. In the far end, is that Leon? Perhaps, the seeds of WACA were sown here.
