@sharmen_r @Daddy__c0o1 Are you seriously the E&D spokesperson for a political party?
English

@Daddy__c0o1 The point being that “grooming gangs” and usury aren’t the issue. I’m not debating that. Their invocation against some minority groups can be a trope
English

I have felt so angry for Rahmehs awful treatment by her profession for her human rights activism, but this comment is disgusting.
Having humanity only works if it’s universal. We can&should stand with all communities under vile oppression without letting other communities down.

@DungareeBaker hey could you tell me where the boycott stuff was going on?
English

@EsheruKwaku I’m sorry but Ali is an unschooled, racially illiterate 🤡 and his politics while having a veneer of solidarity attached to them are reductive and counterproductive.
English

@DungareeBaker @LetsStopC9 Being blocked for raising legitimate concerns and highlighting actual praxis in fighting racism is not the behaviour you would expect from someone who claims to be educated in racism!
English

@LetsStopC9 I find it highly suss that she is targetting the Asian community at this particular time when islamaphobia is off the charts!
The impression she is promoting is, Asians are to blame for the oppression of the black community, not the structural and institutionalised racism.
English

This statement is in response to a recent incident in which a member of the British Black community has been subjected to horrific online racist abuse from individuals within the South Asian community.
Out of respect for their safety and dignity, we will not name the victim [who is not on twitter], to avoid them being subjected to further harassment. What has unfolded is not an isolated incident, but is part of a wider, deeply rooted issue that demands honest reflection and accountability.
Let’s be clear, Black people have every right to boycott whomever they like, including South Asian business whilst promoting Black owned businesses. That’s not racism.
Racism within South Asian communities toward Black people in Western countries, is an uncomfortable but necessary conversation. It doesn’t emerge in isolation, it’s born from the same colonial indoctrination that taught white people to see themselves as superior. The difference is, South Asians inherited the poison and the pain.
Many South Asians in the diaspora occupy a strange, deeply conflicted space, both oppressed by white supremacy and complicit in upholding it. They experience racism from the top while reproducing it downward, particularly toward Black communities. It’s a uniquely twisted position; victims and perpetrators at once. [therefore not omitting the p*ki bashing].
This cycle didn’t start with migration, it’s rooted in centuries of colonial brainwashing that idolised whiteness and demonised Blackness. Until South Asians confront that conditioning head-on, they’ll remain trapped in a hierarchy that despises them as much as it uses them.
The hunger for open racism within white communities is growing by the second. To all South Asians, wake up, stop handing more fuel to the very beast that thrives on division, especially when this is the moment we should be fighting to build unity, not destroy it!
I implore my fellow South Asians who are educated in racism to step up, take accountability and do more to teach our communities. - Ali @ThatAsianDude_

Today, the people of Caerphilly rejected racism.
They rejected division and hate.
They rejected corruption and scandal.
They rejected a politics of fear.
They chose hope, over despair.

Mariella Frostrup, "I just don't know when we started dehumanising people to the extent that we do now"
>Huge clap<
*In response to Nadine Dorries's long rant on leaving the ECHR and using the Royal Navy to address Farage's Brexit Small Boats Arrivals*
"I find it really shocking"
"Imagine if nobody wanted to come here then we'd really be depressed by Britain as a nation"
"Of course it is an issue. But we've decreased our budget for international development"
"We have a completely shambolic asylum system"
"You talk about people coming here illegally, but what are the legal routes?"
"We still don't have proper legal routes"
Nadine Dorries, "We do"
Mariella Frostrup, "Explain. I'm a woman in Congo. I'm one of the 80,000 women who has been raped as a result of the conflict going on there. I need to escape. My family has been wiped out. What's my legal way of applying to join my sister who is in the UK?"
*Nadine Dorries goes silent*
"It is impossible, our system is broken"
"The way we talk about people trying to come here, and the way we completely ignore the dilemmas that they face. And the fact that we have been instrumental in a lot of those conflicts"
"What happened to Afghanistan? When we were determined that people from Afghanistan could come here because of the way they supported us during that war"
"And now we're talking about them as if they're rubbish on the street"
"I think it's a shame we're allowing Reform UK to set the tone and the agenda and the way we talk about illegal immigrants"
*Nadine Dorries is now biting her lips*
>Another huge clap<

@KhadijaKhan__ The concept is also nonexistent in the Bible or Torah and without looking into it I’m aware of at least three Muslim countries who criminalise marital rape, so why spread such an inaccurate and false narrative?
English

The concept of marital rape is unfortunately nonexistent in Islam and, consequently, in Muslim societies. It is expected of women to be available to their husbands regardless of their personal circumstances. Would Sharia councils dare to condemn him?
I really doubt it.

@ThatAsianDude_ No ones arguing against the way Black ppl are discriminated against or the hierarchy of racism. Nor should we be going down the rabbit hole of oppression olympics. The point is racism lands differently for different groups, not recognising that specificity is erasure.
English

@Pastcritique Also recalling the colonial history which pitted Asians above in their hierarchy in several African countries, Uganda and Kenya.
The point she made about racism being normalised only against South Asians stands. Racism is normalised by white society, not just for South Asians.
English

A message for my fellow South Asians who say ‘racism against Asians is normalised’. Watch the video.

@ThatAsianDude_ There is a long colonial history of trying to invisibilise & subordinate south Asian communities, further perpetuated through the model minority myth. I don’t know who the tik toker is but she’s clearly not aware of this terms deep history.
English

@ThatAsianDude_ All Racism is normalised in our society & structures. But the particularities & histories of how different communities are discriminated against varies. Racism towards South Asians as just banter is a normalised feature in the global North. Widely tolerated without challenge.
