@nixonfoundation Pat Nixon worked as an uncredited extra in several films during the mid-1930s to help pay for her college expenses. Her appearances included roles in Becky Sharp (1935), The Great Ziegfeld (1936), Small Town Girl (1936), and Dancing Pirate(1936).

@PrezWisdom “Big Bill” Taft had a mean curveball. He is best remembered for shutting down Billy “Boom-Boom” Bryan in the ‘08 World Series. 😉

@JoshuaBarzon I am partial to Tanzania 🇹🇿 as blue & green are my favorite colors AND I visited Tanzania twice back in the 1980s.

@FXMC1957 As a young American college student in the 1970s, I remember him being referred to as “Sunny Jim”. I always thought that was a nice moniker. 😊

@HistoryUnd Both apprehension and Joy. It was a whole new, unknown world for them.

@JoshuaBarzon I have to admit, whenever I come across Shem’s name I almost always think of this guy. 😀 Shows you how old (and offbeat) I am.

@JoshuaBarzon When I began my first pastorate back in 1985, I almost immediately launched into a Sunday evening sermon series through the Book of Genesis. I’m glad I did it. Unfortunately, all my handwritten sermon notes were destroyed in a house fire 4 years later. 😢

Genesis covers more ground than any other book in the Bible. Creation, the fall, the flood, Babel, and the entire patriarchal line from Adam to Jacob in 50 chapters. Every major theological theme in Scripture has its roots here. If you want to understand the rest of the Bible, start here and go slowly.

@HistorylandHQ @ActualNames1 I didn’t know it was created as far back as 1963. I seem to recall it exploding on the scene about 1971. All of a sudden it was everywhere.

@JoshuaBarzon Washington & Lincoln, of course. Then…Taft because of his character & congeniality. Truman because of his decisiveness & common man appeal. Reagan because of his sunny optimism & strong, inspiring leadership.

@JoshuaBarzon D, because this is where I’ve lived all my 69 years so far—Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina and Florida.

@miles_commodore When I was a kid, I daily read the Knoxville (Tennessee) News-Sentinel and I watched the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite. I was neither encouraged nor discouraged to do so by my parents. But it was a great education. But I wouldn’t let a kid watch or read the news today.

@StatisticUrban First and foremost, it was considered proper and dignified apparel. Polite society then had a sense of decorum that has long vanished. Secondly, at one time, some folks actually thought wearing long sleeves and jackets helped to keep the heat OUT. 🤷♂️

@50YearsAgoLive He waited too late to get into the race. Former Georgia governor Jimmy Carter was already on a big roll. Church had been busy chairing the Senate’s select committee investigating the CIA. He was hoping that might propel his candidacy in spite of his late start.
English

@100YearsAgoLive I used to eat grouper when I lived in Florida. I had no idea they were this big.
English

@OleTimeHardball I love ‘em all…especially the Big Red Machine…but my all time favorite is Tony Perez
