Harley-Davidson signed onto this HRC letter that was meant to scare states away from passing laws that ban sex changes for kids and ban men from being able to follow girls into bathrooms. They seek to put the authority of state government behind discrimination and promote mistreatment of a targeted LBGTQ population. These bills would harm our team members and their families, stripping them of opportunities and making them feel unwelcome and at risk in their own communities. As such, it can be exceedingly difficult for us to recruit the most qualified candidates for jobs in states that pursue such laws, and these measures can place substantial burdens on the families of our employees who already reside in these states. Legislation promoting discrimination directly affects our businesses, whether or not it occurs in the workplace. We have to disaggregate colour race ethnicity immigration and asylum. Having a brown face does not make you an immigrant still less an asylum seeker. Jude Bellingham is not an immigrant. Neither are my children. They were born here. They are British. You don't get to have a view about their legitimacy. Wanting harm even removal of British citizens because of the colour of their skin is just racism. There is nothing legitimate about it. If you feel it I pity you. If you express it you will face consequences. Being against further mass immigration is a legitimate political opinion. I hold it myself. Ditto how we process asylum claims. Only 0.18% of us are asylum seekers. This is a vastly lower number than Germany Italy Greece Spain and others. Particularly as our governments played a much bigger role than others in causing the flow of refugees in the first place. But our red line is racism.
