There’s something deeply sobering about living with illness, uncertainty, and financial fear, then suddenly realizing your greatest concern was never tangible things, it was dignity. I made peace a long time ago with the idea that if something ever happened to me, I’d probably be cremated because it was the cheapest option. Ashes resting quietly in a modest urn. Simple. Practical. No burden left behind for anyone else to carry. But recently, I found myself thinking about something I never expected to think about: For the first time in my life, I might actually have enough security to leave this world the way I would have dreamed of. A Marine Corps funeral. 🇺🇸 Marines in dress blues standing watch beside my casket in perfect silence. The American flag draped across me one final time. The sharp crack of rifle volleys rising into the open sky. Taps drifting through a military cemetery while the people who loved me gather together beneath the weight of goodbye. A folded flag carried carefully into my family’s hands. My name etched into stone instead of quietly dissolving into paperwork and ash. And there’s something both beautiful and heartbreaking about realizing that after a lifetime spent worrying about survival, one of the first things financial peace made me think about was not tangible things… but the possibility of leaving this world wrapped in honor, dignity, ceremony, and love. I have a feeling there are many people quietly carrying thoughts like these, but very few willing to say them aloud.

@cwebbonline If asymptomatic, they’ll be allowed to drive home when they wish. The virus is already mutating - that’s how person to person transmission occurred. 42 days is end of window for symptoms this strain. A few days before people gather everywhere for America 250.

@VinoNStrosGal It's at a different hospital so I could have the best surgeon. I told him of my concerns and he has assured me I will not have any problems getting what I need, but that has to be adopted by every resident & RN who has control over what I get & how often.😨🙏🤞

@VinoNStrosGal He wrote a detailed note b4 surgery that no one read. I went home too soon because it was my only hope to get proper pain management from the doc who knew me & gave my husband a detailed plan. I am now scheduled for kidney surgery 6/1 and am terrified.

I don’t know why people are so shocked when they come out of surgery and get offered Tylenol like it’s enough. This isn’t new. You just weren’t paying attention when it was happening to someone else. Pain management didn’t just change for chronic pain patients. The entire culture shifted. Now it’s showing up everywhere. Appendectomies. ACL tears. Car accidents. Post-op recovery. People who have never taken an opioid in their life are now being told to “tough it out” with medications that don’t even touch severe pain. And the worst part? They think it’s about them. It’s not. It’s about fear, policy pressure, and a system that overcorrected so hard it forgot what pain actually feels like. Opioids aren’t the enemy. Misuse is. But when you treat the drug like the problem instead of the context, you don’t fix anything. You just create a new kind of suffering. And now it’s not limited to one group. It’s reaching everyone. If you think this doesn’t apply to you, wait until it does.

@TylerWong65 @sonsio Grrrr. This is what happens when the broadcast partner is a series owner. Just like qualifying this morning. Changed channels for the fast 12 but it wasn’t labeled so my DVR didn’t pick it up. We shouldn’t be having these issues 2 years in. Better not end up with a timed race.

What moms really want for Mother’s Day: -To feel seen. -To sit in silence without anyone asking them to do one more thing. -Paid maternity leave. -For their health concerns to be taken seriously instead of dismissed as “just stress.” -Time to prioritize their own health and wellbeing without guilt. -Support, not pressure to “bounce back.” -To stop being told weight loss is the fix for every health concern and life problem. -And honestly? Normalize moms not wanting to spend every waking second of Mother’s Day caring for other people. Wanting rest, space, or time alone does not make someone a bad mother.
