@MattZeitlin He's described the prevention program before as a kind of loose system of mentor-types working with neighborhood folks to get to know who the community is worried about and then dropping in on those people periodically. It seems good, but cops are still hurting people here, too

brandon scott's odd lots interview is amazing, he's talking up baltimore's violence interruptors program but then also explains that they essentially have a precrime system to prevent future murders

Black voters, if a candidate has not spoken out about this SCOTUS VRA ruling, that’s your sign that we are clearly not a political priority to them. This is the drawn line. Also see if Leftists make this a single-issue worth a march, blocked interstate, or encampment.

@patdennis @kevsaucebro Not dismissing or arguing against anything you say here, but is there any reason yet for Black people, or really any minority group, to take Platner at his word? Has he sat down with anyone from a community that might have felt threatened by a senator with a Nazi tat?

@kevsaucebro yeah man, dropping my sarcasm for a moment, it's literally very important to me that we take power in the senate so we can actually prevent things like that national park pass thing that annoys you from happening (also health care)

We have sent a notice to cease & desist to the Milwaukee Brewers. Having rain fall inside a stadium with a closed retractable roof is the intellectual property of the Montreal Expos.

🇨🇺⚾🇺🇲After nearly forty years without Major League Baseball teams visiting Cuba, a long-awaited dream came true on March 28, 1999. The American League baseball team, the Baltimore Orioles, traveled to Cuba to play a friendly game against the island’s national team. The game took place at the Estadio Latinoamericano, packed with more than 50,000 people. Minutes before the start, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz arrived at the stadium and spent time with the athletes from both teams. As seen in the photograph taken by Sven Creutzmann, Fidel walked over to the American dugout, greeted the visitors, and spoke with Mike Murphy and Alberto Belle. After the welcoming greetings, Fidel went up to the boxes and, alongside Peter Angelos, owner of the Orioles, enjoyed the entire emotional game. In the second inning, the Americans drove in their first two runs on a home run with a runner on base, off pitches by José Ibar. The Cubans managed to score one run in the seventh inning, tied the game in the eighth, but lost in the 11th inning with a final score of 3-2. The loss was charged to Pedro Luis Lazo. ✒️Taken from Victor Aguilera' s profile in FB.

If you're joining us for Spring Break, plan to arrive early! This is especially true if departing on a morning flight. Checkpoint wait times are generally at their worst in the morning with fluctuations throughout the day. Please show up early. We appreciate your patience.

@samhaselby @BigMeanInternet Catholic vs Protestant Ireland matters a great deal here, though. Lyon is from the South and most likely Catholic (and therefore an outlier), but the bulk of that list are Antrim-born “Scots-Irish” Protestants who had a much easier time making the transition to whiteness

@BigMeanInternet Property requirements for the franchise were both lowered and racialized a generation before mass Irish immigration. Also- William Paterson, James McHenry, Matthew Lyon, Pierce Butler, Thomas Fitzsimmons- all Irish-born men who served in Congress in the 18th century.

I guess this dude went to my high school? lol how are you gonna be a big bad scary right winger coming out of Chapel Hill High School. We had like a good theatre program and a lot of AP Latin classes and the only athlete we produced was Brian Roberts.
Chris Murphy 🟧@ChrisMurphyCT

Trump nominated a legit white nationalist to a top post at the State Department. I asked him some basic questions about his belief in the “erasure of white culture”. Watch this embarrassing, fumbling answer. Like he has never before been asked to explain his views.
