People hate taxes and think it’s theft, but I wonder what a world with no taxes looks like. Schools? Private. Roads? Toll. Military? Not really sure. Fire/Police Departments? Swipe your card before they put out your house fire. Medicare and Social Security? Completely privatized. So in reality, is it viable?

This is one of my favourite charts ever. The share of new mortgages flowing to property investors is heavily inversely correlated with the proportion going to first home buyers. It is very much an either or sort of choice.

@_mumbling_me @PatMabuns You're showing you're not equipped to be commenting. They're taxing any capital gains beginning at 30% so for $10k gains she would pay $3k. You're also forgetting the fact that these dollars are post taxed. This budget screws everyone. It's not fair. Far from it.

You reduce crime by eliminating poverty. The reason so called nice neighborhoods have lower crime rates is because people’s basic needs are being met. It is not because of police, alarm systems, or neighborhood associations. Poverty creates crime.
