FAMOUS VIKINGS:
Van McCann, co-founder and lead singer of Catfish and the Bottlemen, is a Widnes fan who found fame in the world of indie pop. 🎸🎤
His uncle Stephen used to deliver Chemics/Vikings gear each Christmas to an eager young nephew and black and white follower! ⚫️⚪️
Weaned on the immortals of eighty-nine, like so many Widnesians rugby is part of his family and in his blood.
His father Bernie was a top amateur player who turned out with St. Bede's and even trialled for the Chemics, passing on a strong rugby league influence to his son.

Watching the Premier League Darts last night, they had a PL tribute marking 20 years since first season in 2005, & noticed Widnes in the host venues for that first year.
They played at Kingsway Leisure Centre (now knocked down). Insane sport trajectory.

Chester FC are saddened to learn of the passing of much-loved volunteer Wendy Potts at the age of 82.
Wendy sadly passed away on Thursday and was a well-known and respected volunteer who gave half a century of service to the club.
Wendy started volunteering with the Blues back in the 1970's and could always be seen selling Match Programmes in and around the East Stand and the Blues Bar throughout the seasons gone by.
She was also a regular on the Hipkiss Express supporter buses and would assist the Away Travel team on matchdays up and down the country.
Wendy was part of the fabric of the football club and everyone is saddened by her loss, we extend our sincerest condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time.
We will be remembering Wendy with a minute of applause prior to our next home fixture against Warrington Town on Tuesday 11th March.
RIP Wendy. Forever a blue.

Everyone at Chester Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former Club Secretary John Davies.
John was appointed as Club Secretary in June 2010, working closely alongside Neil Young and the Board of Directors during the early years following reformation.
He was a popular and respected figure within the game for his contribution as a referee and administrator, including with Cheshire FA and the Birkenhead Sunday League.
John, who remained a regular visitor the Deva Stadium in recent seasons, passed away on 22nd January following a short illness.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
Rest in Peace John.
