On this final day of #ASC2026 , here are 7 tips for those who’ve attended (and yes, applicable to all CME events): ▪️Write the Paper: if you presented (talk or poster) ➡️ write and submit the manuscript! There are way too many abstracts that don’t get published. The world benefits from science that is peer reviewed and published. And as a journal editor, a reminder: make sure your work is aligned with the mission of the journal (e.g. don’t send a super specialized manuscript to a general focus journal) ▫️Review and Organize Notes: Summarize key, actionable takeaways from sessions. Review new guidelines or research findings while they are fresh, integrating this knowledge into your studies. ▪️Update Your CV: Add the conference, poster presentations, or workshops to your curriculum vitae immediately to keep it current. ▫️Claim and File Certificates: Ensure you document attendance by saving, printing, or uploading your CME/attendance certificates for your portfolio. ▪️Follow Up with Connections: Within 48 hours, send emails or LinkedIn messages to mentors, speakers, and program directors you met. Mention specific topics you discussed to make the connection memorable. ▫️Pursue Networking Opportunities: If you discussed potential research projects or shadowing with anyone, send a polite follow-up email to solidify those opportunities. ▪️Share with Peers: Present a summary of what you learned to your classmates or peer group to reinforce your own learning and share knowledge.  A CME conference is just like any other learning opportunity: those who benefit the most will not delay next steps. “Success is where preparation and opportunity meet." — Bobby Unser We hope you’ve enjoyed #ASC2026 . Join us next year Feb 9-11, 2027 in DC for #ASC2027 ! @UnivSurg @AcademicSurgery

People at average risk should begin screening at age 45. If you have a first-degree relative, a parent or sibling, diagnosed with colorectal cancer, you should start screening at least 10 years before their age at diagnosis, or at age 40 at the latest. bit.ly/4kcQlDS

Don’t let CMS cut your pay and harm patients’ access to care. We need Congress to stop these harmful cuts before they take effect. Amplify our voice now by using SurgeonsVoice. 🗣️ brnw.ch/21wXaSE

🧵regarding the technique of 2-handed knot tying. It's July again, so it's a good time to revisit this 🧵. 2-handed tying is becoming a lost art in surgery, but I believe it is worth learning. We'll start with just the basic steps. Advanced concepts will come later. (1/)
