The #CDSiC patient panel with @TiffanyAndLupus @deborahcollyar Angela Dobes & @KisteinM noted areas for future focus: ⭐Address power dynamics ⭐Centralize relationships ⭐Prioritize underserved groups ⭐Ensure use of plain language ⭐Think of patients as "we" instead of "they"

What screams out to me (as an observer, not speaker this time) is that changing the patient-provider relationship is not just about the doctor side - a patient like Kistein (or me) (or you) needs to know THAT they can say "Wait a minute" and HOW to say it. #HUB23

@DrDannySands and I have role-played my visits w/ a before-&-after "Let's try that again." Today he's doing it w @PatientOrator Kistein Monkhouse re equitable care, & it's HARD to see him being kind of a jerk... until she speaks up & schools him, then says "Let's try that again."

What an honor to speak about our progress towards reinventing menopause with the 400+ in attendance at Matter Health’s Menopause Accelerator alongside these women. Thanks to them, menopause is finally starting to receive serious attention, ushering in a new wave of innovation.

“I was under-treated, over-treated and mistreated. After 3 years of seeing 43 doctors, finally a doctor reviewed all of my medical records and sent me for the appropriate testing..” @BarbyIngle #WomensDay2023 #PatientCare #PatientVoice #HealthEquity #WomensHealth

A patient with obesity recently told me that “even though I may not look like it, I enjoy eating veggies.” My heart broke. 💔 This person has been stigmatized their entire life to be made to feel that couldn’t possibly enjoy eating veggies based on how they looked…😢😢😢

@1a @KisteinM @DamonCentola A couple of months ago, WAMU (possibly this prrogram) had a couple of female doctors talking about women's experiences in menstruation and I was totally blown away when one of the doctors said that "pain is not normal." We women have become convnced that pain is part & parcel-

@1a @KisteinM @DamonCentola I am a bigger woman and doctors often blame my weight for any ailment. They make me feel like my concerns do not matter and are not heard.

@1a @KisteinM @DamonCentola Serena Williams' experience post childbirth is an excellent example of this. Not just that her pain was dismissed but that they also didn't seem to be aware that black women are more likely to "throw a clot" (I think that's what it was).
