@ollie_shapiro @efctruth20802 Now then it comes down to whether Moyes is a manager that’s going to use those younger players or find a way to get older ones into the team. The evidence so far is mixed. He seemingly trusts the youngest player in the squad, but doesn’t trust some of the other players brought in
English

@ollie_shapiro @efctruth20802 I don’t think there’s a right or wrong personally. Arteta has a lot control at arsenal, for example.
There’s now a full committee in place at Everton with all the pieces there. There’s main crux essentially boils down to transfers
English

@ollie_shapiro @efctruth20802 Now people can fret all they want but the facts are pretty simple. The majority of the players signed under TFG are under 24. There’s 2 notable examples (both of whom have been clearly everton’s better players) and then 2 back up GKs.
English

@ollie_shapiro @efctruth20802 I’m not sure he does love that? Ultimately Kinnear is the boss and he is the one who answers to TFG. But I do think then there’s maybe a void somewhat of power above the manager, because Kinnear’s not a ‘football person’
English

@PatricRidge @efctruth20802 I still don't like his love of managers that handle every part of the club
English

@efctruth20802 Juric was a disaster, they quickly corrected it and went to Ranieri, but he was only ever short term. They hired him and in the same announcement confirmed he would be moving into a director role at the end of last season.
English

@PatricRidge They’ve had 3 managers since De Rossi was sacked. Hardly low key.
I think at the moment they’re in a Conference place
Lots can still happen but even with a good manager they are hamstrung by FFP due to prior year’s poor decisions.
English

@efctruth20802 Kinnear. As he has said, in a big interview with TTV in September, TFG have entrusted him and his 'local team' to run the club. Of course they have input and final say, but they seem to be trusting Kinnear to enact the vision they have in place.
English

@PatricRidge The key about Roma is TFG are good on the business side but don’t seem to understand football.
As you say they stumbled on Ranieri & he’s been a key adviser.
Who’s advising them on Everton?
English

@efctruth20802 Italian football is a very different beast to British football, especially when it comes to fans. But since the chaos of the De Rossi sacking, Roma have, comparatively, been pretty low key. Will be interesting what happens if they miss out on UCL.
English

@efctruth20802 They acknowledged their mistakes at Roma. Last season, they appointed Ranieri, with a clear plan he would then move upstairs, which he did. Ranieri stabilised them and then got them into Europe. They then went and got an excellent, vastly experienced coach in Gasperini.
English

@efctruth20802 The point, though, is Kinnear is on record as saying they wanted stability, see where they could finish in the league but be clear of danger (achieved), and a cup run (failed). He didn't say anything about developing young players, but recruitment clearly suggests that's an aim
English

@efctruth20802 Moyes messed up in the EFL Cup. A lot of Everton's recruitment was done too late, and Moyes plays his part in that as he dithers, then you end up him trying to change too much for one game and get an awful performance. That's on him.
English

@efctruth20802 But Kinnear is on record as saying the target this season was stability, which has been achieved. Moyes and players say they hope to push for Europe. One clear failing was in cups. Moyes at fault in League Cup. FA Cup was bare bones and a tough draw in the circumstances
English

@efctruth20802 I agree on that, but it’s semantics here. I think TFG would be foolish, right now (this summer) to change. But absolutely, there needs to be an alignment. I don’t think this team needs more (really) young players, and it would be sensible to have a balance.
English

@efctruth20802 Answer: 2 poor managers. Moyes isn’t a poor manager. He can be frustrating as hell, but he is some way clear of what has been present on the touchline in Everton’s recent past.
English

@efctruth20802 And who has Garner’s drastic improvement come under?
I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make here. If the summer 2022 window was so good, why did Everton scrape to survival on the last day of the season?
English

@efctruth20802 Everton signed 2 first-team ready players (who both have delivered) and one other in Barry who played and developed as the season went on.
Moyes has more than played his part. I’d rather have him than any boss of any team around Everton, bar, in the right circumstances, Iraola.
English

@efctruth20802 Everton’s underlying defensive metrics aren’t amazing. Everton have been missing their best CB for most of the season, stop being ridiculous here.
If Dyche had Everton performing so well, he wouldn’t have been dismissed.
English

@efctruth20802 So that kind of plays into my point anyway. Everton didn’t add enough this summer that were elevating the first team imo. So to be in a position of strength now is decent going.
English

@efctruth20802 Right, but there weren’t just 13 senior players on contract. Everton weren’t rebuilding an entire squad. But we’re having to replace Richarlison, ofc. In 2022-23 they also survived on the last day of the season?
