Congratulations to @anhadsidhumrcvs on the opening of Akal Equine Hospital & Research Centre near Bathinda in Punjab. What I saw was an excellent facility, possibly the best in India. A lot of thought has gone into every single aspect of the hospital. Its also gives one a great sense of pride that a lad from our neck of the woods has gone all over the world, honed his skills and then come back home and set up this state of the art facility. Good Luck on your new venture Doc here’s wishing you great success, speaking on behalf of all Stud Farmers and horses in Punjab a big thank you and God Bless you

A Crisis Unfolds: The Lightning Strike at RCTC
The Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC), an iconic institution in Indian horse racing, finds itself in a precarious situation following an unannounced strike by the stable union staff. The strike, which has brought essential track work to a grinding halt, has been justified by citing the unfortunate death of an ailing worker. However, it appears this tragedy is being used as an excuse to arm-twist The Race Horse & Stable Employees Welfare Society (RSHEWS ) into agreeing to unreasonable demands.
This disruption comes despite the fact that wages and the ratio of workers per horse in Kolkata are already the highest in the country, making horse upkeep here significantly more expensive compared to other racing centers. The rising costs have been a long-standing concern for horse owners, and any additional demands could push many of them to reconsider keeping their horses at this center.
The timing of this strike is particularly damaging. The racing season is in full swing, and preparations for marquee events like the Calcutta Derby Stakes are being severely hampered. Such instability not only affects the sport but also jeopardizes the livelihoods of the very workers participating in this strike. Owners who were planning to increase their horse strength at RCTC in the coming months—thereby providing employment to more sidelined staff—may now redirect their investments to other centers.
While the stable union’s concerns should not be ignored, the method of halting work without prior notice is neither productive nor sustainable. The racing industry in Kolkata thrives on a delicate balance between owners, trainers, and workers. Disruptions of this nature risk permanently destabilizing this balance, damaging the sport’s future and its stakeholders alike.
It is time for all parties to approach this issue with reason and pragmatism. An amicable resolution must be reached promptly to resume racing for the betterment of the sport at this historic center. Racing is not just about competition; it is a livelihood and a tradition deeply woven into the fabric of Kolkata.
Let us hope better sense prevails, and the focus shifts back to nurturing this noble sport by resuming races immediately.

Completely against such clarifications by our clubs.
It can only encourage mischief mongers in the future not deter them.
Racing aficionado’s are smart enough to check the clubs website and not believe drivel.
