Gavin Morris tripled the school attendance rate* at Yipirinya in Alice Springs. It's hard to imagine how he was single-handedly responsible for this, if he is the cruel man some are claiming. I think there is much, much more to this story than what's being reported. When I was at school, it was not uncommon for school masters (especially those brought up in England where it was commonplace) to playfully grab a boy's ear between thumb and forefinger to lead him somewhere or, indeed, to do a Homer-Bart 'choking' where hand were placed around a boy's neck, neither touching nor squeezing. Both usually resulted in howls of laughter by all. One wouldn't/shouldn't do it today, but, if the circumstances were the same in this scenario (and from what I know about Gavin Morris and his sense of playfulness and fun with his students they would have been the same) calling it 'assault' with all the implications that carries when applied to a school teacher and student situation is unfair. I have been in an Aboriginal school when a machete was brought by a 13yo who was sent home. That boy went straight to the headmaster's home and burned it down, with the man's wife and children inside. Fortunately, they escaped. A day later, I witnessed another boy fight the senior master over a football. The boy had decided he didn't want to stay in class so he went to the staff commonroom to take a football. The boy rained down blows on the senior master, saying "You can't touch me! You can't tell me what to do!" The master managed to wrestle the ball away without touching the boy, hold it above his head and usher the boy out and lock the door. Until you've experienced these remote schools, it's difficult to even begin to imagine just how different they are from city/town schools. *School attendance rate is a paltry 35% - but, by NT standards, this isn't bad and is triple what it once was. One takes one's victories where one can. abc.net.au/news/2025-10-2…

Why are Dajarra Aboriginal people living on water rations? 2 x 5ltr bottles per house per day. It's 2025, how is this acceptable @DavidCrisafulli @RealBobKatter @RobKatter3 @FionaSimpsonMP $1.937 million for a new raw water bore and reticulation system to supply potable water to Dajarra, yet still people are put on rations, make it make sense please. #auspol

Dwain Duxson - An Ag Enthusiast@FarmTender

The Farmers Club ideas thefarmersclub.com.au "Nobody joins a movement that's just angry about what exists. People join a movement that helps them become someone better". That's what Ag marketing guru Dan Schultz. I'd like to think that that's what we do…. Subscribe to become better. "Every future is created twice, first in imagination, then in execution". Dan also wrote this also and when you think about it, it's so true. We had our Farm Tender board meeting in the Elders' head office in Adelaide a week or so back. I forgot what it was like to work in a shared office situation. It doesn't look like fun, and it's not for me…. We wrote about what we witnessed today. I was a Cricket Pitch curator once. It was when we lived in Yarrawonga, a Volunteer job, and I loved it. But there was one part I hated, and many Farmers would be able to relate to this. We wrote about it today…. Have a great Tuesday, and when you subscribe, you start your day informed.

Guess who? 19-year-old Alyssa Healy working at a KFC, just a few weeks before she would go on to make her Australia debut and win 8 ICC trophies in the next 15 years. Who knows, might add a ninth as well in the next few weeks, this time as captain.
