🚨 BREAKING: The UK has leapfrogged France to become the 8th largest manufacturer in the world. With an annual output of £224 billion, the buoyant sector now supports 2.6 million jobs according to new data released this morning by trade association @MakeUK_ . The figures are contained in the latest annual ‘Manufacturing – The Facts’ which contains a wide variety of data about the contribution of manufacturing to the economy including exports, sectoral breakdown, how the UK compares to other nations and salary levels. Make UK estimates that if the Government commits to its call for a manufacturing target of 15% of GDP, this will add an additional £142 billion to the UK economy. #UKmfg

@elizabday Perhaps you should have a look in the dictionary!! In Australian and British English, 'practise' is the verb and 'practice' is the noun. In American English, 'practice' is both the verb and the noun.

"An increase in NI will have a big impact on business.  It is effectively a tax on businesses for employing people." The tax rise could discourage the creation of new jobs & potentially put some at risk @BusinessDesk_NW bit.ly/3tq5B6g

@timfarron It’s that what the welfare / benefits system is for? So it’s providing support to people who need it! I suspect Gov know that they will need to put special measures in for specific sectors like hospitality but right now they have measures in for all!

Awful news today that Westmorland & Lonsdale has seen the biggest increase in unemployment in the country. It's now more important than ever that we fight for a long-term financial package from the Government for hospitality & tourism to support the industry into next Spring.

I’ve had a fever and persistent cough since Saturday and so have been self-isolating as a precaution. NHS 111 have now advised that it’s likely that I do have coronavirus and so I will continue to be in self-isolation for the rest of the week. (1/2)
