@ChiefAcorn @WatchJRGo1198 The program was set up to get people into new cars with a healthy down payment, in a one to one swap. If you had 10 cars to trade, you’d have to buy 10 new. If a dealer bought $2k cars to sell for $3k to people to make $1k on a trade, it would not have flown.

There are literally millions of cars littering the United States that deserve to be destroyed, cash for clunkers was just that, an amazing program that got trash off our streets. The biggest downside was having to own those cars for 6 months prior, it would’ve been the greatest arbitrage opportunity of all time. I remember when it dropped, and cross referencing the list to Craigslist and finding hundreds of cars I could’ve sold to the government for $2,000 over what the owner was asking. Every single example was clapped and those people (overwhelming low income) suddenly had gold in their hands. Was it a handout, sure… did it help the auto industry and thusly the country? Probably. (If anything it’s more of a wealth transfer to the banks as all car transactions are) All I know is the only thing I’ll ever be upset about was them gatekeeping the arb with the ownership time requirement. Honestly they should run it again but for salvage title cars only since the number of them on the road is growing exponentially.

I feel a deep sadness. So many of us worked very hard to get Trump back in office. We believed he would put America First and no new wars would be started. What we have seen this term is the opposite of what we voted for, understand it is not MAGA that has changed, it is Trump. Trump was a vessel to achieve the goal, he has failed the mission and it is time he leave the office.

Spent the last few days in one of the most affluent parts of the country (palm beach county) and haven’t seen one person wearing Nike sneakers or apparel.
