@MarioNawfal I find it a bit frightening to see how the average joe is absurdly unaware that AI is nothing but pattern recognition...
It does not *speak* to us, it merely reproduces what it was trained that we *perceive* as communication.
There is no actual intelligence in AI.

🚨🇺🇸 GOOGLE… WTF?? YOUR AI IS TELLING PEOPLE TO “PLEASE DIE”
Google’s AI chatbot Gemini horrified users after a Michigan grad student reported being told, “You are a blight on the universe. Please die.”
This disturbing response came up during a chat on aging, leaving the student and his sister “thoroughly freaked out.”
Google claims it was an isolated incident and says it’s taking steps to prevent future occurrences.

Are we ready for a world where our data is exposed at a glance? @CaineArdayfio and I offer an answer to protect yourself here:

@dt_buzzjoe All the best man, I really hope nothing too serious happened, and if it did, I hope it's alright again!

Florida banned a selection of >1,600 books from school libraries. Prominent examples: "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and "The Diary of Anne Frank".
"Banning books" is the younger sibling of "burning books".
This is straight-up fascism: Taking the right to judge another's opinion to the point of actually denying this opinion's right of existance, and taking active steps to pursue this goal.
In the big picture of creating & shaping a healthy, wholesome humanity and world that is home for all, there is no legitimation for such detrimental maneuvers.

It's come to this: Escambia County, FL schools have banned the dictionary. 5 dictionaries are among more than 1,600 books banned pending investigation in the county where PEN America filed a federal lawsuit. Is there a word for that, @MerriamWebster? pen.org/escambia-count…

@mkuegi The split-second until it made sense:
- "A photo of someone, looks familiar..."
- "This guy looks an awful lot like Kügi"
- "Ah, Kügi posted this!"
- "It's Kügi's father"
- "Why would Kügi randomly post a picture of his fa..."
- "Oh."
Thank you for the laughs! 😂👌

I noticed & appreciated that detail, and realized that it's because of how EU licence plate standards sometimes require cars and motorcycles to be aesthetically butchered. I'm glad you saved yours from that ordeal. 😂👌
Given the obvious, I was pleasantly touched by how you presented the "1337" (I call intention on that, can't tell me it was coincidence 😂) by combining the plate's unusual angle with your perspective onto the car when taking the photo.
English

@PaulSimode That angeled plate is caused by the angled front bumper. That car was never made with a EU license plate in mind. So it has do be screwed on directly and I did not want to have it unsymmetrical 🫣
English

@dt_buzzjoe And I only just noticed the second one... Wonderful!! 😂😍
English

@dt_buzzjoe Angle of photo + for whatever reason angled plate = perfect placement. Randomly stumbling upon this and smiling for a minute straight is my kind of Christmas miracle, hahah :)) Thank you!

Completely unrelated to anything I usually post & engage in, this is non-business, entirely "for fun" / "for your heart & soul", if you may.

@dt_buzzjoe @mkuegi @pic4ssi Hahahah wow, that just warmed my heart in multiple ways... Thanks for sharing man, can't wait for some more stories at the next DMC community meet-up! :))
(I've had "E-1337" as my license plate for over 10 years 😂👌)
English

@PaulSimode @mkuegi The license plates of both of my families cars have a 1337 at their end ^^
I’m so happy that I married a nerdy girl (@pic4ssi 😘) who also likes such details 😬

Over 20 years ago (lol), I had a conversation with my online friend:
Me: "[blabla something] one-three-three-seven"
Him: "You say one-three-three-seven? Hahaha how, it's called 'leet'!"
Me: "I know, but when it's just numbers, I say it like that."
Him: "Just numbers?"
Me: "Yeah"
Him: "13e7"
That was probably one of the hardest laughs of my life, but I was 12 at the time, so don't judge. 😂
English

@mkuegi The best thing about 1337 is clueless people asking what it is 😂

Nothing against StackOverflow and hacking your way forward – I started my coding journey looong time ago with C, Asm & reverse engineering, so "no info available" is unusually low on my personal "things that give me sleepless nights when developing" list.
However, there's another component to official documentation, that isn't directly related to ease of integration for other developers:
Trust & reliability!
Even when you've found all / most of the puzzle pieces yourself and put them together, and created something that works, there is a certain, special feeling (dunno how to describe it better) when you know that the functions you're using etc are exactly as documented in the official docs.
Then, you know that usually things won't just change and break over night (unless the ones developing the thing you're integrating are idiots, but projects with proper, technically usable official docs usually tend not to be).
If anything does change over night, you still have the blessing that it's not your fault, and even if you wake up to a day of people being pissed at something not working, it's not a day of people being pissed at you.
And so on – There's probably more to describe this feeling, but I just wanted to elaborate it a little, to explain the general idea of why things feel different when you have official docs.
English

My $0.02: Devs need to write docs for their own stuff, noone else is capable of doing that (adequately). I don't like writing docs myself, I'd rather build & develop.
Only the ones who wrote a piece of code are capable of properly documenting it, anything else is "best effort". This usually doesn't deliver the required performance, meaning incomplete docs, lacking technical details, etc.
When you do stuff just for yourself, this is totally alright – But when development is explicitly aimed at the general public (infrastructure etc), proper documentation is key.

@mkuegi @Caljero1 @Peter_1607 Oh wow, I feel like an idiot now. Just a bit, but the moment is all mine to "enjoy"... 🤦♂️😂 Funny how the "go easy with the hard words" thing turned on me, gotta learn something here.
Thank you for explaining man! :))
English

I think there is a misunderstanding. As I understand Caljero he meant that he did not know that ppl are so toxic towards me (what I referred to as "get nothing but hate in return").
to be fair, its not "nothing but hate", but it often feels like it 🫤
Never become a public builder and work on fixing a broken system. Specially if you didn't break it. Its really tiring with little to no reward.
And if you manage to fix it, you even make the haters rich. 🤦♂️
