Manager: As you know, you missed yet another one of our company socials last evening.
Employee: That was an optional event, to my understanding.
Manager: Right, of course. We cannot force you to attend company events outside of your working hours.
Employee: Right.
Manager: However, there is an expectation that you partake in company bonding events.
Employee: You just said we don’t need to attend them when they fall outside of our work hours.
Manager: Legally, we cannot force you, no.
Employee: Right, because that would be unpaid.
Manager: However, this does potentially impact your ability to grow within your career here.
Employee: Because I don’t attend evening optional social events?
Manager: Bonding and culture are both very important.
Employee: Is it possible to have our team social during work hours?
Manager: No, we do not want to take away from the work that needs to be done.
Employee: But didn’t you just say how important bonding and culture are? Wouldn’t that mean they would be prioritized during the workday so that everyone can attend?
Manager: I recommend you consider attending some of our upcoming evening socials.
Employee: My evenings are for my personal time.
Manager: I highly recommend you reconsider.
Employee: This feels like a soft threat.
Manager: A strong recommendation for the sake of your career.
Employee: Alright.

@Simon_Ingari Do you copy these directly from Laura on tiktok? Because that is word for word one of her videos I watched yesterday.

Manager: I have you scheduled for a meeting at 7 PM tomorrow.
Gen Z: Is my attendance mandatory?
Manager: Yes, we’re working with a client in another time zone.
Gen Z: Okay, I’m happy to shift my hours to accommodate.
Manager: Excuse me, no—you still start at 8 AM.
Gen Z: If I’m working in the evening, then I’ll start later in the day.
Manager: Okay, don’t watch the clock at this company. We work when we need to work.
Gen Z: I’m contracted and paid for 40 hours a week, so that is what I work.
Manager: That’s a career-limiting move. Tomorrow is a busy day; I’ll need you to start right promptly at 8:00 AM.
Gen Z: Alright then, I will take the lieu time later this week.
Manager: Again, that’s not how we operate at this company. You work hard when you need to, and you don’t watch the clock.
Gen Z: Again, I work for the hours I’m paid for, and since overtime is not an option, I’ll go ahead and adjust my hours this week to accommodate the shift in the schedule.
Manager: You’re not quite understanding the company culture we have here—we work all the time.
Gen Z: And you’re not understanding that just because that is the way you do things does not mean that is how I’m required to do things as well.
Manager: (Silence)

@CrazyVibes_1 Im glad I live in the UK where tipping is done for outstanding service and not for entitled fucks like this who give attitude yet still expect to be treated like the sun shines out of their arse
English

Some guy tipped me ten dollars in coins, and I'm still trying to figure out why he thought that was acceptable. I'd just finished a DoorDash order and he told me he forgot to tip in the app, which was okay, not ideal but acceptable. Then he pulled out a roll of coins as if he were doing me a favor.
He looked at me and said,
“Sorry, I don’t tip in the app, this is all I have.”
I stood there holding a handful of coins as if I were in 1998. I don’t use loose change. I’m not a parking ticket machine. I don’t carry a roll of coins or put them in a Coinstar machine just to get the money I’ve earned. I took it because I didn’t want to stand there arguing, but that didn’t make it okay.
Tipping in coins is ridiculous. Please tip via app, tip with cash, tip electronically, tip with anything that doesn't require me to carry loose change. To think this is normal is insane, and yes, it's truly disgusting that guy thinks a handful of loose change in his pocket is an acceptable tip.

@GWRHelp I don’t really want a refund. I want a reliable rail service. Any chance of that?

Another “Great Day Out” with @GWRHelp. No reservations, no available seats and no toilets. £393 return from Bristol Parkway to London. Also, apparently it’s no one’s fault.

Seriously, I have no problem with people coming into this country to escape harm etc, but this is our country and they should respect our culture and wayvof life the same way expect us to respect theirs if we went to their country.
