Some guy tipped me ten dollars in coins, and I'm still trying to figure out why he thought that was acceptable. I'd just finished a DoorDash order and he told me he forgot to tip in the app, which was okay, not ideal but acceptable. Then he pulled out a roll of coins as if he were doing me a favor. He looked at me and said, “Sorry, I don’t tip in the app, this is all I have.” I stood there holding a handful of coins as if I were in 1998. I don’t use loose change. I’m not a parking ticket machine. I don’t carry a roll of coins or put them in a Coinstar machine just to get the money I’ve earned. I took it because I didn’t want to stand there arguing, but that didn’t make it okay. Tipping in coins is ridiculous. Please tip via app, tip with cash, tip electronically, tip with anything that doesn't require me to carry loose change. To think this is normal is insane, and yes, it's truly disgusting that guy thinks a handful of loose change in his pocket is an acceptable tip.
