As I head out to enjoy the weekend with my family, I’ll say this. Gamers were in denial if they thought an all digital generation was never coming. With PlayStation ending physical disc production for new games in January 2028, it looks like that shift starts with the next era. I’ve been mostly digital since games went day and date on PS3, so this does not shock me. I started buying physical again recently, but only as a collector. Most of those games are still sealed because I already own them digitally. Would I miss buying physical games? Sure, a little. If certain games still come in a case with a digital code, I’ll probably buy the box for franchises I truly love. I respect people fighting to keep physical alive. What I do not support is telling people to cancel pre orders, sell their PlayStations, or shaming digital gamers with “you own nothing.” That does not help your cause. It pushes people like me further away from sympathizing with it. Have a great weekend and stay safe! ✊🏾🔥

To everyone not buying a PS6 because of the lack of physical media. What are you gonna do? PC is all digital. Xbox, if they’re actually stupid enough to make another console that nobody wants, will most likely be digital too. Switch 2 might still have physical release, if they stick with putting actual cartridges in the boxes. Right now, it’s about 80/20 split digital to physical. That number will most likely be 95/5 in a year and half. So, what are you gonna do? For the record, cancelling your PS+ subscription is not gonna do anything btw. The only way you can reverse this is by going out to a store and buy physical games.

@giuoggiuo @WolfgangMishima Wether Sony is to blame or not isn’t the point, unless you have a disc version of this game you can’t play it anymore which proves my overall point. Digital media is unreliable and doesn’t reflect true ownership like a disc does.

Not a single game has been removed from my library that was purchased since the PS3 generation. Knock it off.

Those of us with discs however still maintain access to to the game. The UK have strict regulation laws about the purchase of physical media. It equals ownership

The fact that people can't understand the second point caused the first one shows a dramatic drop in the average IQ. I knew education was bad but this is basic fucking logic. The reason we stopped buying physical is BECAUSE THE FULL GAME IS OFTEN NOT IN THE FUCKING DISC.

@Nick_Marseil Where are you getting 17,000 dollars for entry level 😂😂😂 An entry level Pc is 1500- 3000 you tool 😂 and you can upgrade as needed without having to buy an entirely new pc like you do with consoles. Plus a competitive PC market, modding/enhancing, protective ownership!

@PoolerFrank @WolfgangMishima So any game that doesn’t have a disc release they can withhold access all together with their new “licensing approach” They have to allow access as disc owners legally own their access, once that goes away they don’t have to allow access to anyone if they delist a game.

I just did with 007, 40% cheaper than the PS store

@DaReelSebas Ngl I’m not canceling anything because digital helps a lot because I have kids. Don’t have time to go to a midnight release anymore. I’m strictly digital now because a game I ordered got lost in the shuffle.
