On June 8, high school students will finally move into the new K–12 Parry Sound school. When the project fell behind, our government stepped in, supervised the board, and got the project back on track.

This week, the Putting Student Achievement First Act received Royal Assent. This legislation will strengthen accountability, improve school board governance, support teachers, and refocus Ontario’s education system on what matters most: student achievement.

The right expertise, in the right role. Newly passed legislation will strengthen accountability, refocus boards on student achievement, and put more resources back into classrooms.

We’re continuing to support international language learning through after-hours and Saturday programs, while keeping our focus on strong reading, writing, and math skills for every student.

People deserve to feel safe when they take transit to work, school or home. That is why our government is proposing new measures that would give special constables the authority to stop people from using illegal drugs on transit and in transit areas, along with the ability to issue tickets or make arrests if they refuse to comply.

It was great to host Minister @PaulCalandra at Norwell District Secondary School in Palmerston recently. It had been a few years since I last walked those halls as a student, but it was great to be back and showcase all the great things happening in one of our rural high schools.

Stop putting teachers in the middle. Let them focus on students.

Directors are hired by elected trustees. CEOs would be hired by elected trustees. This is about better governance. Glad we cleared that up.

Even this union president agrees. Qualifications matter when it comes to leading school boards.

Millions to outside organizations. “Infinitesimally insignificant.” I disagree. That money belongs in classrooms.
