Just finished my first waste collection volunteering session at SGNP, near Vihar Lake and it was deeply satisfying to be part of this effort after complaining about the problem for many years. A big thank you to @BNHSIndia for organising this effort and hope you do more of these efforts. Delighted to partner with my young fellow volunteer Pavan and together we huffed and puffed our way to many kilos of plastic glasses, bags, bottles and beer bottles, bottle caps, multi layer packaging of Gutka, potato chips, cigarettes etc We were a 250 member clean up crew comprising mostly of young NSS and NCC college students and I felt young and old at the same time. Conclusion: easy to litter but bloody hard, back breaking work to clean up the mess so wherever we go, let us bring back our rubbish with us to waste bins. Also, do volunteer whenever you get an opportunity to serve a good cause , it is wonderful food for the soul

Noticed a taxonomy error on ScienceDirect! In Food Crop Production by Smallholder Farmers in Southern Africa, the Red cotton bug (Dysdercus cingulatus) is wrongly referred to as a beetle. It’s a true bug (Hemiptera), not a beetle (Coleoptera)! #Entomology #ScienceDirect

The Great Eggfly (Hypolimnas bolina) (family #Nymphalidae) Males are territorial; females inspect plants for ants before laying eggs. Some females have even been observed guarding their broods to protect them from predators such as ants and parasitic wasps. #butterflies #nature
