Saint James the Less, son of Alphaeus, became the first bishop of Jerusalem. Known for his humility, prayer, and unwavering leadership, he guided the early Christian community through persecution and division. He was martyred in Jerusalem, struck down with a club after confessing Christ before the people. Their feast reminds us that the Church is built not on power or prestige, but on ordinary men transformed by grace, who gave everything for the truth they encountered. Saints Philip and James, Apostles of the Lord, pray for us — that we may follow Christ with the same courage, clarity, and love.
