They're bad at zone entries. They're bad at faceoffs. Every lost faceoff is another time you have to enter the zone.
Josh Dunne is their only available center above 50% (54.1%). Have him take the draws + run off the ice.

@JeremyWGR What’s worked all year with goaltending is that they were “fresh” physically and mentally by rotating. Obvious choice to go with Lyon on Thursday and I think that will stabilize the crease. Maybe I’m the crazy one but the rotations worked all year, why not continue in playoffs?

Going to be tough to overcome the postseason's worst power play AND goaltending. That's what the Sabres have two games in.

You’ve rotated the goalie all year long. UPL isn’t at fault for the Sabres inability to generate offense, but it’s clear he isn’t at his best right now.
Lyon gets the start, find a way to get Ostlund in the lineup. I think that’s the best bet for Game 3. Leave the D pairs alone.

@CMDeDominicis Curious the data on Pearson but eye level I liked what he did on the fourth line. Seems like a nice stable winger. He forced that turnover that allowed the fourth line to kill a minute.

The Sabres have been stumbling but if you want an optimistic view:
• they already punched their ticket
• we know what they’re capable of when they get on a roll
• hopefully Ostlund & Carrick back by round 1
• there’s no true powerhouse in the East. It’s open for the taking

@anonpryme @TSR_Jonah It’s not bad. It doesn’t “move the needle” per se but it reinforces depth in case of injury and brings in two d men profiles the Sabres lack (big, tough, sandpaper). Playing the Panthers? Throw Stanley in. Playing the Canes? Throw Metsa in. Good flexibility.

Jim Nill has won GM of the year 3 times in a row. He just used similar assets to trade for Tyler Myers.
Last year, he signed Ilya Lyubushkin & Matt Dumba AND THEN traded for Cody Ceci. Even the best GM’s do these sort of things.

As much as I’m not huge fans of Stanley/Schenn or anything The thing about being a playoff team is you will probably, at some point, add a few of these profiles to beef up (even if it’s temporary) Almost every team does it, comes with the territory

Let me explain when I say, dream come true…
After missing the playoffs for 14 straight seasons, the Sabres aren’t wasting any time by pushing the envelope. Robert Thomas is a true, legitimate 1C, he can add so much to an already established forward line-up.
