@resir014 @Hergam42 I agree, but why are the only tournaments that take place during US/Asia/OCE hours blocked behind region locks? I'm sure European players would come and play them even at inconvenient times

@HuskyGoalie @EthanLegion If they wanted to maximize viewership to that extent, why give three slots to Oceania, which is not known for its number of esports viewers? And why not give one slot to China or Southeast Asia, which are among the largest esports markets?

@PaynnTM @EthanLegion Maybe worth to look at this from EWC POV. They don’t care who plays, they care about who and especially how many watch. Worst thing that could happen to TM is being the lowest watched game in EWC. The community should make it a priority to attract viewership for their own sake.

@EthanLegion @HuskyGoalie As I said, I'm sure that if you held an open cup at the OCE time, European players would come and play, but if I'm not mistaken, that hasn't happened recently. So from what are you locking the cup ? EU player coming to play at 1am ?

@PaynnTM @HuskyGoalie 1.baiwack and jswag (NZ players) have both made it to top 64 of an elite cup. Also most AU players aren't playing cause its at 12-3am for us. 2.We run region-locked events because EU times are impossible for us to play in, we want a chance to compete against others in our region

The thing is, I saw that you mentioned Mobile Legends in one of your tweets. I admit I'm not an expert on the scene, but I imagine there's a league in at least most parts of the world. That's not the case with Trackmania. I see the game more as a fighting game in terms of qualifications, and I would have liked to see qualifications open to everyone, as is the case with the latter, even if it's true that creating offline tournaments in these regions is complicated and few people would be able to travel there.

Division of region secures diversity, the number of slots across such diversity can be argued about, I don’t disagree with that, but believe it’s giving fair chances for Europeans to qualify. Discussion is then less about slot allocation to EU but more about maximising value of these extra slots outside EU.

@HuskyGoalie I agree that the fact that minor regions are represented is a good thing, but once again, why are the regions so divided, and what are the arguments for giving so many slots to this or that region?

@PaynnTM Everything boils down to reach and growth. The value of enabling a worldwide player base to become excited about EWC because them or one of them can qualify and represent is far more valuable for the ecosystem than another EU player finishing 27th overall instead of a OCE player.

@Taak_Tm All time goat - from NA Current number 1 in qualifications (dominating ) -from australia Even if majority of top players are from EU. talent exists else where. Even in CS Majors, slots are determined by performance of the region. Top talent aquires slots.
