Philanthropy Tank CHANGEmakers Congratulations to 8 student teams from A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, Palm Beach Lakes Community High School, Spanish River Community High School, Suncoast Community High School, and William T. Dwyer High School for their success at Philanthropy Tank's Finals Event this week. Each team presented their community impact ideas to a panel of Philanthropist Investors, and received funding and mentorship to bring their passion projects to life. A total of $60,000 was awarded this year to address issues of environmental sustainability, disability inclusion, youth leadership, civic education, mentorship, arts access, youth legal literacy and support for seniors. We are so impressed with these student leaders and look forward to seeing their contributions to our community.

We visited a kindergarten classroom at Sunset Palms Elementary School to get an inside look at all the fun, learning, and excitement incoming families can expect this August. Congratulations to Kiera Pero, a first grade student at Waters Edge Elementary School, who is one of the winners of the Florida Department of Education’s Black History Month Art, Essay, and Educator Contest. Her submission, “Honoring African American Contributions to Florida Success,” highlighted Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. For her win, Kiera received a $200 gift card for school supplies and a one-year pass to Florida state parks. STEM CELEBRATIONS! @insideFPL, in partnership with Ventus Charitable Foundation, awarded the @EducationFdnPBC grant funding in the amount of $50,000 to support Diamond View Elementary School's STEM Classroom Makeover. South Olive Elementary was also chosen to receive the STEM Classroom Makeover. We thank these amazing community partners and look forward to seeing the new spaces created for our students to learn, create and explore.

SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT We continue our ‘School Spotlight’ series today with William T. Dwyer High School. Every Tuesday, we’ll showcase one of our amazing schools, with a special message from the principal about what makes their campus your best choice for education. At Dwyer, Principal Corey Brooks says they are not just building transcripts, they are building people. He says "success is unavoidable" at the "A" rated school, which features an International Baccalaureate program, Finance Academy and Early Childhood Teacher Academy. 🥧 Happy Pi Day! Whether our students are calculating the circumference of a circle or just calculating how many slices of pie they can eat, it’s a great day for math (and dessert) in the School District of Palm Beach County. Today we celebrate the beauty of mathematics and the critical thinking skills our students use every day. If you didn't know: Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi, the Greek letter “π,” is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant- the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, which is approximately 3.14159.

School District of Palm Beach County Student Summer 2026 Internship Applications now available 📣 The application window opens today and will close on Sunday, April 5. This opportunity is open to current high school juniors or graduating seniors from the School District of Palm Beach County, as well as School District of Palm Beach County graduates who are currently enrolled in a college or university. You can earn $15 per hour while working with District staff in a variety of fields. From IT, to the classroom, School Police, and everything in between, the experience will help you learn real-world skills and prepare for future careers. You could say this competition was one for the books. At the annual “Battle of the Books” event, the students read selected books and then answer questions. MAKING MAGICAL MUSIC 🎶🌟 Congratulations to Wynnebrook Elementary School music teacher Sherry Hall, who received the Educator of the Year Award during the 11th annual Educator Night at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. She has been with the District for more than a decade, and has always loved music. “It is an honor to receive this award.
