@rpwbrowne but you're overlooking how having the highest wages to win precedes victory.

Despite City being perennial winners, and so much surrounding the club from the ownership to the investigation - the club insist on their innocence - there is a far greater will for Arsenal to lose A piece on why... and how this isn't new independent.co.uk/sport/football…

@danielstorey85 ”Eternal”? Arsenal are one of the most decorated teams in the country and have been very good - no matter how much you want it, most fans are enjoying this Maybe stay off social media and join the real world for a bit?

Arsenal are wobbling because they are making mistakes, but also because they are fighting a tide of self-fulfillment. The storm only whips up stronger... ⬇️ inews.co.uk/sport/football…

@pythaginboots Six years of interviews and press conferences biweekly Lots of data and words to analyse. When you talk as often as we do it’s just a moment in time where you are managing people. To draw conclusions that lead to how we play football - I’m less inclined to conclude on words

Arteta needs to stop this “beautiful” nonsense and do a Sacchi, but a mentality version rather than physical training. Sacchi used to make training so difficult that matches felt like a joy in comparison. If Arteta makes the challenge ahead a mountain rather than this fairytale molehill he’s tried to brew: “Guys, history suggests we choke, it’ll be harder for us than others to break the duck”, then he’ll see who rises to the occasion rather than glossing it up, setting the players up for a negative surprise, thinking “this isn’t a very beautiful feeling”. It’ll also weed out the weak minded players for a summer exodus. Sometimes you have to crawl through the mud to get to higher ground. #AFC #Arsenal

@finoallafine06 @magical_balde You have to give an incentive to try in the Nations League. It’s like rewarding the Europa League winner with a place in the champions league

Seems ridiculous that a team who finished last in their qualifying group and won 0 games was not only gifted an opportunity to qualify through the play-offs, but hosted the crucial play-off decider. 🇸🇪 the most undeserving World Cup qualifiers in recent memory.

@FAmmiranteTFJ Sweden qualified for the World Cup via the playoffs - equivalent of a play-in system in NA sports They qualified for the playoffs via the nations league, along with 3 other teams. The rest were there because they finished 2nd in the qualifying group

Sweden was last place in their group and qualified for the World Cup. The qualification format in Europe is an absolute disaster.

I know how the qualification process works, the Nations League path, etc. It's still a very flawed system from UEFA. Teams that made 18 (🇮🇹) and 17 (🇵🇱) points and competed in League A are equalized to a team that made just 2 (🇸🇪) only because the latter won a League C group...

@parallaxLFC @mattpelesh @samstreetwrites If there was a day that was bullshit it was when they announced the qualification rules, which happened 4 years ago You’re really barking up the wrong tree. Hope we beat you like we did in 2018… maybe that’s what you haven’t gotten over yet?

@PeaceEagle123 @mattpelesh @samstreetwrites “I’m sure ____? wouldn’t care if your favorite… “ Who’s the blank? I’m lucky that in my life I’ve seen Switzerland go to every world cup I can remember, it won’t last forever and this could be the last time in a while. I care about the integrity, and I think today was bullshit

No slight on Sweden, but it is nothing short of disgusting that a team can qualify for a World Cup by getting relegated to Nations League C and then beating Azerbaijan and Estonia.
Dale Johnson@DaleJohnsonBBC

🇸🇪 Sweden's World Cup group record: W-0 D-2 L-6 F-4 A-12 Finished bottom of the group. Qualified for the playoffs by winning a League C group of the Uefa Nations League. Beat Ukraine and Poland in WC playoffs. Only European team to the World Cup through the back door.

@parallaxLFC @mattpelesh @samstreetwrites That doesn’t make sense when groups have different number of teams/different number of games. They did that before & they have to remove points, and teams get rewarded for playing poorly against the worst team in the group… it’s partly why they changed it to behind with

@boomber_jacket @juanignacio_ac Yep agree. And it’s likely Sweden would be through in that case anyway, seeing as they would’ve taken a lead in to the second leg! But it’s hard to argue Sweden weren’t better than both Ukraine and Poland… ruthless in both boxes. That wins games

@PeaceEagle123 @juanignacio_ac Because it is sport? Sometimes worse team has more luck, especially when we speak about single game. Group stages during quali phase give better perspective of strength of each team. In my opinion it is weird that we couldn't play double match (home and away). Same 4 yrs ago

@parallaxLFC @samstreetwrites First of all, Italy played in a group of 5 teams, not 4. Second, Italy SHAT the bed, so not sure I can feel any sympathy for them

@PeaceEagle123 @samstreetwrites I feel it takes away from the integrity/stakes of the qualification phase if you cannot win a game and still end up there. Also saying Ukraine is two of the best is a stretch, I can’t imagine what Italians are feeling with their 18* points from qualifiers compared to 2 from 🇸🇪

@parallaxLFC @samstreetwrites Maybe it does, but given they beat two of the best teams in the playoffs this week, it’s hard to argue they aren’t good enough to be at the World Cup. If they are so bad, they wouldn’t have even made it to the game today

@PeaceEagle123 @samstreetwrites The only reason they are in the Play-offs is because of the Nations League “UEFA allocated four playoff spots to the best-ranked Nations League group winners who did not finish in the top two of their World Cup qualifying group.” Discredits the playoffs and team form that year
