Eritrean Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it rejects the repeated remarks by Ethiopian leaders regarding access to the sea, describing them as “illegal and provocative.” In a statement issued on April 29, 2026, the ministry said that the narrative coming from Addis Ababa stems from a flawed assumption that a large state has the right to expand at the expense of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of neighboring countries. The statement came after Abiy Ahmed reiterated that sovereign access to the sea is an “existential” and “irreversible national objective” for Ethiopia.

@AmanNebiat Unless Eritrea & Tigray stop begging, the history of aid doesn't stop. They always use it to tarnish African image. Ethiopia has progressed well with food self sufficiency and Souvernity. But TPLF holds Tigray hostage and asks for food aid. Eritrea is behind this. Same playbook.

الصومال لا يستحق كل هذا التعميم والازدراء. نعم، البلد يعاني من فوضى أمنية خطيرة، وجريمة، وإرهاب الشباب، وفقر مدقع ،وهذا واقع لا يمكن إنكاره. لكن شعب الصومال هو شعب مكافح وصامد، يواجه ظروفاً استثنائية منذ عقود. أمريكا لعبت دوراً سلبياً مهماً في وصول الصومال إلى هذا المستوى،بعدما دعمت نظام الرئيس الصومالي السابق سياد بري عسكرياً واقتصادياً في الثمانينيات رغم قمعه الوحشي، ثم تخلت عنه فجأة بعد انتهاء الحرب الباردة. وعادت أمريكا وتدخلت عسكرياً عام 1992-1993 تحت غطاء إنساني، ثم انسحبت بعد هزيمة سياسية وإعلامية في معركة مقديشيو. وربما لم يكن الانهيار بسبب أمريكا فقط، بل نتيجة صراعات قبلية عميقة وفشل داخلي متراكم، لكن المؤكد ان الدعم ثم التخلي الأمريكي، ساهما في تعميق الفراغ الأمني، الذي أدى إلى الحرب الأهلية والإرهاب. والان يستغل ترامب هذه المشاكل الحقيقية، ليشن هجوماً عاماً على كل الصوماليين وعلى النائبة إلهان عمر ،التي ادعى زواجها من أخيها بدون أدلة. هذا تعميم غير عادل وغير منصف،فملايين الصوماليين في الشتات وهارج بلادهم، بما في ذلك أمريكا، يعملون ويبنون حياة، وكثيرون يرفضون الإرهاب ويطمحون لاستعادة بلدهم. اخر مايحتاجه هو الصومال خطاب الكراهية هذا الذي يزيد الطين بلة،وانما يحتاج لحلول حقيقية.. وأظن هنا أنه علي الولايات المتحدة القيام بالمسئولية التاريخية والأخلاقية والانسانية التي تتهرب منها،عبر تقديم دعم أمني واقتصادي دولي، مصالحة وطنية، ومواجهة جذور الإرهاب والفساد..

What Abiy’s #Ethiopia is doing is totally unacceptable in the African context e.g. #Sudan hosted hundreds of thousands of #Ethiopians as refugees in the 70s to early 1990. But now Ethiopia requires #Sudanese refugees in Addis Ababa and other cities to pay $ 100 per month and heavy fines if they fail to do so, what a shame

@Hashi25979Hashi Homogeneity couldn't create a stable Somalia. Elite bargain does. Diversity is an asset. Somalia must accept diversity of religion, thoughts, political ideology, local demands etc. You can't create a single state by force. Federation is the best solution. Each state is different.
