Meanwhile, even a Nazi like John Rabe was horrified enough by the Nanjing Massacre to document it and appeal for help. That alone tells you something. Imperial Japan was not some “lesser” fascism. It was fascism’s most openly sadistic forms. Nazi Germany industrialized extermination. Imperial Japan often carried out massacre, rape, torture, and human experimentation in a more direct, public, and hands-on way across Asia. So no, this revisionist garbage does not work. Rabe’s horror is itself evidence of how extreme Japanese fascist brutality was. You are laundering fascist Japan with fragments. But no matter how hard you try to sanitize it, you will never wash away the blood it spilled across Asia.
