@EmoPimp666 @mexigreekmom74 @unlimited_ls I disagree. A bond between a human and their horse is a really special one, especially for teen girls. It’s much different than a dog or cat. If she was caring for her horse and walking to stables to spend time with it, it is extremely odd that she would just take off before

@KatelynTweeter I had the epiphany years ago that if pro-life folks were outside of clinics holding signs that said, “I’ll adopt your baby” the world would change. It requires sacrifice and a willingness to put your money where your mouth is.

If you are pro-life would you ever be willing to adopt an unwanted baby? Trying to prove a point.

WOMAN DITCHES TRADITIONAL RENT. NOW LIVES FULL-TIME IN A HOTEL FOR JUST $307 A WEEK That adds up to $1,228 a month. No lease. No deposit. No credit check. For that weekly payment, she gets everything included: • Utilities • Wi-Fi • Trash service • Mail delivered right to the hotel. She’s been living this way for over 2.5 years. She gave a full tour of her room, complete with a stovetop, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, and everything she needs for everyday life. Some people are calling it a genius housing hack. Others say it proves how broken the rental market has become. Would you live in a hotel if it were actually cheaper than an apartment?

@Pmegmac @nickitruesdell Studies show education level of parent has little to no effect on outcome of homeschooled child. If you can read, you can homeschool. There are unlimited resources available nowadays. A parent can follow along a curriculum, the same way a public school teacher does.

@nickitruesdell And smart enough! Everyone thinks they can teach. You can’t. Unless you have at least a masters degree. Sorry.

I think everyone should homeschool. No disclaimers, no apologies. But I will back this up every time with my experience homeschooling while single, while working, and while broke. Your life doesn’t have to be just right. You just have to be willing.

@Kagami1313 @nickitruesdell My friend worked in a vet clinic making barely above minimum wage and homeschooled her child, single Mom. Another homeschooled teen babysat cheap and Mom did the “formal” schoolwork around her schedule- nights and weekends.

@JeanettePanthen @0riettaRose The average homeschooler is involved in at least 5 extra curriculars. They are spending time around children and people of all ages, from all different walks of life in the real world on a daily basis. Studies show they also adjust easier to new situations than public schoolers.

@0riettaRose How many other children are they actually dealing with daily ? Lear I v to deal with diverse groups is a part of growing up. Not being sheltered.

Homeschool detractors: "I could NEVER spend all day with my kids like that!" Me: Some parents actually like their kids & enjoy being around them. It's very sad how many people don't & will loudly say so right in front of their children.

Traditional schooling puts kids in age-segregated boxes and calls it "preparing them for the real world." The real world doesn't work that way.

@Born_Atheist1 @cboyack people of all ages, which teaches actual socialization skills. Restricting a child to the same ppl, same age, day in and day out for 12yrs straight is not how it works in the real world and is just forced interaction.

@Born_Atheist1 @cboyack When I was in school the middle/high schoolers would come weekly to the elementary schools and be paired up with a child to read and play games with. In homeschooling groups you have 5-8yrs in classes, 10+ in groups amd yes, it works well. They learn how to interact with

@Cannabis_Cane @HippyMomPhD Definitely depends on the child. All learn differently and at different paces, all develop differently. This won’t work for all.

Met another family who *just started* homeschooling their 11yo this weekend The reason? Their 5th grader is already doing Algebra & the schools can't keep up Homeschooling is growing - not shrinking - & attracting a lot of high agency, dedicated kids & families♥️

@HippyMomPhD Schools are not the problem with kids today. It’s the lack of accountability/ expectations from parents.

@ClassicalEduc @HippyMomPhD We had to make sacrifices to homeschool, just like most homeschoolers I personally know. No fancy phones, got rid of car payments, downsized our home, stopped streaming services, stopped getting my hair and nails done. Some just aren’t willing to give up their comfort and wants.

@HenryKarlsonIII @nickitruesdell What does testing have to do with abuse? 1000s of abused/neglected kids are sitting in public school classrooms every single day. Some are abused at school. Nothing is ever reported. If a parent is abusive, they are going to abuse regardless of where the kid attends school.

@nickitruesdell So, you can be abusing them, and the state shouldn't be able to stop it? Doesn't work that way

We don't do standardized tests in our homeschool. Our state does not require it. I am my kids' teacher, so I already know how they're doing in their lessons. Since the state does not educate my kids, the state doesn't need to check up on them, either.

@LouiseCulmer1 @nickitruesdell No, they don’t. The state has zero rights to my kids and as their parent I am the one that gets to determine what I consider adequate. Until they can get their own schools in check, they shouldn’t have any access to mine. The state considers a 18yo reading at a 3rd grade level
