The pt has the Flu btw. But no other testing was offered or done. Not sure who needs to hear it, but It’s ok to see pts who are sick and not Rx antibiotics when symptoms and testing don’t indicate bacterial infection. 2/2 #pediatrics #antibioticstewardship

Dear urgent cares (plus others it may concern): Please stop Rx’ing oral abx to pts with pharyngitis & URI sx with negative rapid strep tests. Don’t do the test if you’re just gonna tell the pt they have strep anyways & not even send a Cx. This is not good medicine/service 1/n

@trpender And so important as PGY every # to always stop and think about order being requested. When it doubt, ASK! The pt’s nurse also will likely have decades of experience as well and are great sources of pt care knowledge

@trpender Tylenol was mine. Pt was admitted night before, nurse asked for a Tylenol order. Made me think - does pt have a liver dz or some other contraindication? Why didn’t night intern order @ admit? Good things to think about but usually just wasn’t needed at time of initial orders

@Peds_doc Yes! I love the hand washing lab 🧪 in my opinion every class should do it at the beginning of the school year and after a break.

Dear schools, Can you at least encourage the kids (and teachers) to wash their hands before eating lunch, having snacks, coughing, sneezing, etc. Please make sure soap is readily available! it can reduce school absences! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22587432/
