היא לא שאלה מה היו מטרות התקיפה. לא האם המטרות הללו הושגו. אפילו לא כמה חיילים ואזרחים ישראלים הצילו התקיפות. מה שעמנואל שאלה הוא כמה אזרחים לבנונים נהרגו. כי זה מה שמעניין אותה. כי רק זה הנתון שאפשר יהיה להשחיר את ישראל בעזרתו. השאר פחות חשוב.

I am aware of the public's complaints and try to reduce the focus on Ronen Bergman, but his latest manipulation requires a (relatively...) brief response. Bergman's revised take is the claim that Iran has the "ability to rapidly and secretly assemble 11 nuclear bombs similar to the one dropped on Hiroshima." Now, let's provide the proper context, which doesn't evade the problems but also doesn't mislead for the sake of intimidation: 1. ​This is a sophisticated retreat by Bergman from his previous claim that spoke generally about a "nuclear device." It is no coincidence that he mentions the bomb dropped on Hiroshima and not the one dropped on Nagasaki: it was a very heavy (4.4 ton) and primitive gun-type bomb, unlike the implosion bomb dropped on Nagasaki. 2. ​Iran does not have the capability to produce an implosion bomb, and on the other hand, it has no capability to launch or drop a gun-type bomb, and this is the heart of Bergman's new manipulation. 3. ​This bomb is too heavy to be mounted on a missile; adapting it for a fighter jet would take months, and Iran currently has no suitable aircraft for this anyway, even after lengthy engineering work. Dropping it from a transport plane also requires engineering adjustments, but while an Iranian fighter jet (which effectively doesn't exist - the Iranian Air Force has been destroyed) would be intercepted with a very high probability on its way to Israel, a transport plane would be intercepted almost with certainty. These are the reasons why Iran has not attempted to make such adjustments to the few aircraft it had before Operation Rising Lion and Operation Epic Fury. The Iranians knew that this was, with very high probability, an operationally futile effort. 4. ​Bergman intentionally uses the vague term "assemble rapidly." All experts, including Avner Vilan who supports him, cite a timeframe of at least six months to a year to reach a nuclear test (as opposed to an operational bomb). After the current operation and the elimination of a significant portion of the remaining nuclear scientists, this timeframe has likely lengthened. 5. ​Regarding the ability to carry out this process, through all its stages, in secrecy as Bergman claims - the danger always exists, but in Iran's current state and with the proven intelligence penetration by Israel and the US, the chance of this is quite low. The combined chance that Iran would also succeed in dropping such a bomb on Israel is slim. 6. ​There are also land and sea routes to transport a nuclear device without launching or dropping it, but this is an extremely complicated terrorist operation - certainly for a country that for more than a month tried with all its might to carry out a simple attack against Israeli and Jewish targets abroad and failed to wound even a single Jew or Israeli. 7. ​On a subject like an Iranian nuclear bomb, one does not settle for a "slim chance," and therefore it is vital to remove the enriched material from Iran, as President Trump also clarified yesterday. The danger and the implications of an Iranian nuclear test should in no way be downplayed, even if it is not an operational capability, but things must be presented in their full context and not manipulatively: the main danger, in the opinion of all experts, was posed by the development of an implosion bomb that can be launched via missile, and this danger was largely removed, or at the very least significantly set back, in Operation Rising Lion and even more so later in Operation Epic Fury.
