The PAB's reviewing @SanDiegoPD's wiretapping bugs by Callyo (Apr 10 mtg). When asked why they don't get a warrant, PD said recordings are of places "detectives have a right to be." Other places require warrants for such intrusive tech tho: bostonglobe.com/2023/10/26/opi…

Extremely disappointed in the City of SD’s lack of good faith in working with the Privacy Advisory Board. Yesterday, the @SanDiegoPD, through @MayorToddGloria’s office, submitted 24 different technologies for the PAB’s review in 90 days.

Over the holidays, for a partially-filled board of 8 volunteers! It’s been made abundantly clear the Mayor’s office and PD will do whatever they can to stop thoughtful public review of their surveillance tech. Do better. Burying the PAB only harms San Diegans.

All this to say: SD deserves to know how PD will use this footage, and Council should review the PAB's draft in earnest rather than vote on the PD's version without considering the PAB's.
