If one character has a slower walk speed than another character that's a form of characterization akin to two characters in a novel having a conversation. If a character is really underpowered that will affect your perception of them the same as an actor giving a shit performance

Something really unhelpful about the "game writing" discussion is that the operative word is "writing" and not "storytelling" so we're focusing on the dialogue characters have in cutscenes, which is an extremely small portion of the actual storytelling happening in a game.

When will people realise that you don't automatically sound smarter when you say "read a book" instead of understanding that every medium has a different way to deliver its story and requires different writing techniques

the old fallout games are really great but I feel its the proto disco elysium a bit. like you dont have to cling to the one of maybe five games with good writing. You could also read a book
