@LoveInner I’ve always liked Maazel with the Vienna Philharmonic - very exciting. I also like Nelsons (was at the concert that it was recorded at) and Petrenko.

Tchaikovsky’s Manfred - a sort of symphony cum tone poem - was premiered on 23 March 1886. It is a work that needs to be played st white heat for it to work best. Which recordings place Manfred in the best possible light for you?

@culturaltutor Lovely to see something on this thread from Durham, where I was at university for six years, but haven’t been to for many years now. I crossed Prebend’s Bridge many times.

Indeed, any bridge over water will be reflected — a curious and unusual fact which, when accounted for in design, can produce a delightful spectacle. Like Prebends Bridge in Durham, northern England, which on a still day looks like something from a fairytale.

Infrastructure can be beautiful, too. So from Switzerland to Iran and Colombia to Korea, here are some of the world's strangest and most wonderful bridges...

@DrDavidVernon I have nearly all of Suzuki’s recordings of Bach’s sacred vocal music (including all the cantatas!). Money, and time listening to them, well spent!
